Good idea. You could pick it up at your arriving location and drop it off at your destination and not have to worry about getting it back to the owner.
Backfiring through the carb could be a timing issue. Thruogh the carb = advanced and out the tail pipe = retarded, or is it the other way around :confused: it's been a while! The advance weights could be stuck or have broken springs. Or it could be lean, use a can of something flammable...brake...
The truck doesn't have enough volume. You need a good shop compressor and a 3/4 impact or larger. They torque to 450 ft lb.

N14's weren't around in the timeframe you give...well the NHC is a 14L engine..855 cid. The dimensions are the same. JW is correct, the jakes will put it too tall, but since there isn't a x-over, it might be OK.
