Axles are usually rated by bearing size. Most fiberglass boat trailers like you describe would be 3500 pound axles. Overkill for a single MEP-002A. My trailer is on 2000 pound axle and does just fine with the generator.
On mobility, my cart set is rapidly installed/removed. Trailered...
I've yet to take pictures of that part, here is my trailer:
The strap is rated for a 2000 pound load, it threads down between the slats and over the roller which is welded to the rear most trailer cross member, then to the forward most cross member of the generator. The aluminum skids slide...
Oh, there IS a way! I am using a tie-down winch which uses webbing. Has about 4 feet of pull before resetting so it is slow but it works.
At the rear of the trailer, I have a 4" wide roller, about 1" in diameter. Route the strap around this roller and hook the generator at the front...
Gear reduction drives spin faster because the motor is more efficient when at a lower torque load. Less current too.
Since torque is proportional to current and current is limited by wiring, reduction drives multiply torque. This allows higher speed on the engine which is always a great...
Old school devices better known for eyebrow removal
They are a "donut" made from stainless that had a draft pipe and exhaust pipe sticking up out of a drum of water. Gasoline was dripped down the draft pipe and lit. The resulting draft will pull the flames down, through the donut...
Have you run through the troubleshooting section of the TMs? First, check the fuse near the starter cut-out, above the oil filter.
There were a few spares floating around but they were going for a few hundred. I would swap in a 24 volt solar battery charging regulator, probably under $50 (10...
A foot valve only maintains prime when the pump is off. You would need a pump that is self-priming unless you have a quantity of fuel to do that.
Be careful discussing this TEOTWAWKI engineering as a few years ago, someone was stealing fuel from underground storage tanks by parking a trailer...
That would only give a total 30 amp service for all receptacles. But seeing how a 002A is limited to about 30 amperes, this wouldn't be a problem. That stock wiring seems light for that service.
As far as the black, trace which terminal it is connected to. Since legs are known (blue and...
Yes. You have two 120 volt (or 125 volt rated in this case) legs. One leg powers one of the 5-20Rs, then goes onto the L14-30R. The second leg feeds the other 5-20R, then powers the other leg of the L14-30R.
Both legs are 20 amp protected so you can either draw a 240 volt load at 20 amperes...
Skip the spade terminals and cut that receptacle off. Use crimp butt connectors and a length of SJOOW, either 12 or 10 and the right conductor count for the application. SJOOW is cheaper as it is 250 VAC rated and perfectly fine. Get 4 conductor for the ground lead (red, black, white and...
Automotive AC systems have refrigeration capacities of 2 tons and up. That is TWO TONS of ICE melting in 24 hours. And that is a small unit. You would need 500 pounds for an hour drive in a deuce.
Those ice air conditioners only work for small aircraft and then, only for taxiing and the...
There is very little displaced volume in this engine and with three compression rings plus oil control, there is little blow-by. What little there is goes to the intake.
MEP-002a are half that engine (or 003A is twice a 002A) and because each piston is at top dead center at the same time...
Master cylinders hardly ever go bad on storage with DOT5. It is wheel cylinders and that means a boat load of hard work. You have to pay to play and the bill here is sore muscles, dirty hands and about 20 man-hours of work.
On the 002/003s, if you duct the engine exhaust air and provide vents in the structure for makeup air, there will be no overheating issues. Running the exhaust through this duct is perfect, as long as the duct is metal. 2" flexible metal hose is perfect, of course 003s would require two. And...
Just duct the engine exhaust air (louvers near exhaust) to the outside with metal ducting. Provide twice the ducting area for fresh air inlet into the shed. Fresh air should be on the control panel side. These generators have more than adequate cooling for the engine, having a massive oil...
More like 10,000 hours. Seriously, three compression rings plus oil control? Cast iron heads WITH valve seat inserts and bronze guides? The wrist pin bushing is even full pressurize lubricated with the connecting rod gun drilled from the large end. Of course this also cools the piston.
The...
And many 002/003As have newer engines. Check the blower housing for an Onan data plate, read the contract number. The engine serial number also has a date code embedded in it.FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS on Onan Generators - SmokStak
My 002A was so new, the first oil change had the flyball...
