If the breather piping is still present on the M38A1 You should be able to straight swap them over. Google the distributor types, seems like the parts are sold to fit iether mode. we can't post that popular site, but research shows them sold there as fitting the range of jeeps you have.

Some of that stuff sells for really low money over here. There are engineers tractors like new with about 6 miles on them! going for about £10,000. Have rubber track pads and full equiptment. But what the heck would a collector get out of it with such little use for display only.

I would go to the faulty lights first and check as said above for bulbs bieng of, then is power getting to the units themselves. Check earthing (grounds). Then check out faults with the switching. Good luck with it, electrics can be a hassle, let us know your progress and the solution when found.
