Kip, I'll be giving you a call.
Jim, I'm thinking about doing just that. But leaving an NDT track in the Artic would be cool. :-D
Chris, after talking to some people who have been there, I'm looking at maybe moving the date up to August.
Thanks for the info on Canada, I will have to check...
I may go with Patrick's idea. Anyone have 11x20 NDTs out there? I'll go price two new 11x20 street radials today. If I was going to keep it 9x20, I have two 95% tread tires on the front of my old school bus I could 'borrow'.
I was going to put whatever I put on the truck on the trailer as...
Thanks Aaron. I may just do that. I would love to swing by many SS 'compounds' on my trip, but I feel I won't be able to make too many sidetrips of much length.
I plan on taking a laptop with WiFi, as you can find that most anywhere nowadays. So I can upload pics and video's, and also keep a...
I think I will start in SC at the Atlantic somewhere- probably Charleston. Easier to start here in Columbia, and drive to Charleston to get started, then Columbia to Miami.
Google maps would have me making most of the trip across Canada, going through Winnipeg. While I love the view up there...
The requirements are if the vehicle was built after the federal seat belt mandate, (which I think was in the 70's) than all seats for passengers must have them, excluding buses.
Joe, it would be legal to drop a bench seat in the back with belts, or if you just put belts in for people to strap...
I am a complete moron.
I had everything ready to go (by civilian truck) and my wife and I had taken Friday off.
Problem- My dumb azz had it on my calendar as NEXT weekend... aua
I can't believe I did that. I've just been running flank 3 around here, getting my property cleared off...
Hey Guys, great thoughts and suggestions, thank you.
WM, I'd love to have you tag along! We may have to start planning this out as a convoy. I would love to have someone along, even if they aren't in the same truck.
Yes, I have 4 brand new 'dog bones' I was going to take too. Fuel costs are...
Papabear, was it my post about my old bus? sounds familiar...
Joe, I just had to remove all the seats out of my school bus when I took it to SC DMV. They took one look in the back, and said, 'ok, RV it is'.
Not sure if they have a 'system' of some sort in it. But they didn't require anything...
Hey Guys,
I'm going to be riding by myself (at the moment) My father in law is taking his bike at a different time, doesn't want to be stuck behind a slow azz deuce.
I am thinking about adding more time to my schedule. As you all have pointed out, Mr. Murphy loves to strike when something...
Oh, I forgot to add that. I had that in the original post, but I lost it because I took to long typing it. I'm going to take a full month off work. well, 4 weeks. I figure I can do 10k miles in 30 days or so.
My Father in law is planning a trip on his motorcycle to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. It is the farthest north you can get in the United states by road. He plans on leaving from Mile Post 0 on I-95 in FL. He has been obsessed with the trip, going over all his routes, plans, stops, and preperations with...
I was told that one time while at a party. And I was drunk enough to prove them all wrong. :-D
I love OD Iron, especially mine. I don't really care what people call me or it.
WOW! Is that a 1980s CUCV or a 2000nds? It looks fantastic!
Very nice score. I love that current OD, the fuel trucks around here are all painted with it. I may paint my deuce that color, it has just grown on me.
Hey Joho,
I would highly recommend consulting the manual. It will give you the step by step, any things to watch out for, and how to prime the system back up.
Section IV in 9-2320-209-20-3-1. http://old.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?module=pagesetter&type=file&func=get&tid=1&fid=file&pid=92...
DO NOT attempt to fix and reuse that bottle jack- I saw one basically explode when a fella did that and jacked up a semi. (it was a 20ton bottle jack)
You want wood that won't crush? go to a landscape place or lowe's, buy one good railroad tie. Cut it up with a chain saw into one ft or longer...
