    Gas vs multi. winch shaft

I found a Deuce with a winch that the owner is willing to sell me, but it's a gasser and I've got a multi-fuel truck. Will I be able to bolt-up that winch and PTO unit? It sounds like the driveshafts are different, and I'm just wondering if there's anything else that won't cross-over.

New 15.5x20 Michelins Beating The Crap Out of Me!

I'm interested in hearing about what wheels/tires you're running too.

    Building Roll Cage for CUCV

4130 is kind of a waste to use if you're just building an exo-cage. You can't get enough triangulation to build a very strong cage that way, so you might as well just use DOM. Many many racecars use rollcages built with DOM tubing, and unless you're going to take full advantage of the properties...

    Building Roll Cage for CUCV

Search pirate4x4 if you want to read some of the arguments for/against using poop-pipe to build rollcages. For what you're building, I don't even think that's such a bad idea. It's the 'corners' that I have a problem with. There's just no way that you can weld those up to be safe without...

    Building Roll Cage for CUCV

It's not about being pretty. A rollcage should like like whatever it needs to look like to do it's job. But what you're building is just not safe (compared to a well-built rollcage). Sorry dude, those corners just don't cut it.

    Building Roll Cage for CUCV

Butt-welded pipe? Ugh. That's heinous. Sorry.

    5 ton wheels and tires

Are the 5-ton wheels widely available? How much are they going for? Looks like all you have to do is adapt new center-plates. Is that right? What about the offset/backspacing?

    M66 Cab Reinforcement Plates

I need to make a custom reinforcement plate for my M109 so that I create a pass-through between the cab and the box. Any chance you might be willing to send me blueprints to use/modify?

    Ordered wheels today

Those look sweet! What's the deal? 20x11" with 2 or 7" of backspacing? I wouldn't want to run different wheels front and rear though. Do you offer them with backspacing would work well front AND rear? What type of shells are they and do these wheels come with beadlock insert/liners?

    M35A2 bobbed as Expedition vehicle?

That's a great suggestion. I was planning on putting a 10ft Alaskan Camper on the back of a Deuce until I decided to build an M109. Still got that Alaskan Camper and it's for sale...

    M35A2 bobbed as Expedition vehicle?

Right on. When did you pick up a Deuce?

    Tow dolly idea??

I don't see how that would work. At least, not with the stock suspension and if the frame/tongue are configured anything like the pics you attached. Just think about how the rear suspension on a Deuce works.

Take a look at the M109's.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go this route on my M109.

    Deuce lockout hubs

Fair enough. That's a good point about the difference between design and manufacturing.

    Deuce lockout hubs

OEM will sell you just one double-splined axleshaft and one lockout to use on a rear axle. Better is better. In this case either might product be good enough, but the OEM lockout sure looks like a better-made product. For the same price? Obvious choice if you ask me...

    rear steering

The mechanical linkage steering thing is an urban myth. Someone posted a $500 bounty on Pirate4x4 a few years ago, offered to anyone that could cite where fully hydraulic steering is illegal, or that a mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the front wheels is required. If you think...
