I don't know about the WD-40, but the Rapco 383 is a virtually perfect match to the CARC, especially a few weeks after application. I would try that before trying the WD-40.
If you are having this many problems with your A3 wheels, something is very wrong. Either your O-rings are not correct, valve stem gaskets are shot, or improper procedures are being used. I've had my A3 for over 7 years now. I resealed all of my tires when I first received the truck as they...
Why not contact Sherwin Williams technical service and ask the question? As a manufacturer of CARC paint, they should be able to steer you in the right direction.
You might also try dry ice blasting in place since it leave no residue. However, I've never used it to blast rust, but it works great on some other stuff.
You stated "When I open up the louvers". The louvers open automatically as the engine heats up. When first started the louvers should be closed. As the engine heats up, the louvers start opening and only open to the point required to cool the engine. When the engine is very hot, the louvers...
Check the air pressure regulator for the pneumatic steering assist. Failure of these regulators is not uncommon. I had to replace the one on my A3 after about a year of ownership. Very easy to replace. I found an NOS regulator on Ebay for $15.00 and bought two so that I have a spare. If...
You absolutely must have that cover present and it must be closed and latched. If it is missing, that explains why your generator shut down. If the cover is not present, closed and latched, the engine will overheat as that cover is an integral part of the air cooling. The temperature sensor...
Be very careful around ether. The gas is very explosive and all it takes is a spark. Also, avoid breathing any of the fumes. If the solenoid / valve body is undamaged and you only crimped the tubing, just replace the tubing. Its available at almost all auto parts stores and is easy to replace.
We lost power last night at about 10:30 PM. I ran the MEP003A until about 11:30 AM this morning. Fantastic machine and the only piece of military surplus equipment I've bought that my wife actually likes!
You should seldom need ether to start your truck. I would replace the bottle, but if the weather turns extremely cold and you know you will need the truck, put a block heater on it. I have a magnetic one that I use when needed, which is seldom.
This is a very good comment. If my MEP003A doesn't immediately start firing, I stop and manually lift the fuel cutoff solenoid with my fingers and then release it. The engine almost always immediately starts.
The MEP003A is a very good genset. Very dependable. You need to thoroughly clean out the fuel system and change the oil and filter before doing anything else. I have listed some part numbers to get you started.
Oil Filter:
FRAM CH6PL
NAPA 1004
Fuel Filter:
FRAM 1125PL
NAPA 3113
Air...
Note that camo or "military" paint schemes are illegal in some countries. I would suspect that there are a lot of countries that forbid driving an ex-MV on their roads, or even the temporary importation. Be prepared for massive paperwork challenges for some countries. You also need to check...
I entered my M1030M1 USMC diesel motorcycle in the North Georgia Motorcycle Show today in Blairsville, Georgia. I won first place in the Special Interest Category. They didn't have a category for military motorcycles. The weather was somewhat poor. I had to ride to the show in the rain, but...
