SCUBA air is clean and dry, usually a -40 dew point. By keeping 100 PSI in the tank, water cannot get in. Furthermore, the over-pressure disk will rupture in case of a fire before the tank will become weakened. Storing near empty and it is possible for heat induced pressure to rupture the...
They are too small to fall under ASME VIII code construction/annual inspection/5 year hydrostatic test, much like consumer air compressor tanks and water heaters. Water heaters are required to have an ASME rated temperature/pressure relief valve even with the pressure vessel exemption...
Injector balance. You have to find a shop with the necessary equipment to do this. The injectors are closed until injection pressure is sufficient to unseat the needle's spring pressure. As the injectors wear or are gummed up, different pressures are needed to unseat the needles and...
Andy forgot to mention we had done a 12k bearing service and wheel cylinder replacement on this truck. After driving it for an hour, I felt all the hubs and drums to make sure everything was correct in the temperature department. The right front drum was a bit warmer than the rest but it...
Don't feel bad, I get the turning direction wrong unless I have a picture in front of me.
There are 4 adjusters, 2 top and 2 on the bottom. Fortunately, this is the right front wheel and you can pop the cover off the drum and visually inspect the gap. As long as you adjusted it to free...
Silicone and one-piece boots may sound great but there really isn't anything wrong with zipper boots. With cleaning, they can be replaced in under an hour. But solid boots? More like 6 hours, unless you have an impact wrench.
Your choice. If the idea of a leaking boot zipper bothers you...
You would have to ask that question...from what I recall from my motor pool days, the A1 modification was sometime in the 1960s. These all were upgraded to the A2 with the 465 engine and those with transfer case problems were also upgraded to the air shift.
20+ years on my brain has only left...
Certainly were a lot of A2s that started life as M35s. Look at the right fender, noting the flame cut for the stack. That means it was at least a M35 fender, at the very least. Gassers had the exhaust out the back and low. Multifuel required the stack for convoy safety.
As far as build date...
Usually valve regulated. They will hold about 2 PSI (gauge) with the "valves" which are no more than rubber cups retained by a closure.
They use recombinant "catalysts" to turn hydrogen and oxygen gases back into water.
The moisture is from the air, certainly, but it is concentrated due to pressure. All is fine most of the time until the air cools (compression heats the air), that is when some condenses out. Unless it is very cold and dry, you will have condensation.
Nothing beats regular paint thinner..cheap yet evaporates. It loosens the caked-on grease so a pressure washer can more easily remove it.
If you don't have a pressure washer, a trip to the local car wash will suffice
Cross country in a deuce? Hopefully you are under 30, that is rough. But it is an A3 so hopefully you have heat.
Manuals? We have some electronic versions here but I wouldn't know the number or if we have there. Will look and report back..

All air has humidity. In most conditions, some of the humidity will come out as liquid water when the air is compressed and then cooled, this happens in the tank.
Draining the tank removes water but also oxygen under pressure, limiting corrosion. There is usually oil on top of the water, this...
All A2s have manual adjusters on the brakes. Some have nickel plated steel pistons. Some may not have the boot blow-off prevention modification (small notch at the bottom of the boot's outer seat on the WC).
And the A2C deuces have dual circuit. But with a common reservoir so if there is a...
Check ALL hoses, they want to spring leaks. Then look at each backing plate at the 6:00 position, there is a 3/16" slot on the outer diameter flange, if there is any liquid here, you have a leaking wheel cylinder.
DoD got cheap at the end of the service life and used wheel cylinders rebuilt...
Well, since you have the wheels off, a simple bearing/seal service will be easy. Hub/drum will be heavy, still so be careful.
From the looks of it, you have leaky wheel cylinders and possibly bearing seals.
On review of the photos, you have issues. Either with wheel cylinders or seals. I...
