Yeah, that sounds like an excellent way to fry the injection pump! The IP in the Hypercycle Multifuel is lubricated with engine oil, most other diesel pumps will be fried from non-lubricating effects of gasoline.
The multifuel capacity starts at the injection pump, then the injection nozzles...
Most of the M35s will have the hubs nearly packed solid with lube. Why? "Combat relube". But this excessive lube, about 10 hands full will cause more problems than it solves because the gear oil will cross over from out to in, then getting through the inner seal.
Just a thin layer in the hub...
What are "injector valves" and how would one go about adjusting them?
I know about pop-off pressures in the injectors but this isn't something covered in the -34 for the engine.
It would just cause problems with 1-2 wheels. There would be more brake fluid volume for the others.
This is water in the air side, causing the air piston to stick. No movement in the air piston means no fluid movement and no brakes.
And too much GAA in the inner hub will also do it. Remember, the inner and outer seals will try to prevent leaks but they will also allow pressure to build from heat. Usually, the inner seal will leak.
The usual "standard" was to FILL the hub with grease, I was told (by the 63Bs) that this...
Bad idea to go up in diameter as the drum will be below the minimum bend radius. This will fatigue the wire rope, causing breakage. Remember, it is the bare drum when you have the most pull. Successive wraps reduce the winch capacity.
Check battery voltage (assistant) when cranking. If the total voltage doesn't drop under 24 when cranking, you need to track down the bad connection. Start with ground, then trace the positive to the battery. This is most likely a bad connection. Clean rust from the ground, make sure...
Certainly could be the injection centrifugal advance unit. The key sign that timing is retarded would be EGTs higher than normal. Have you noticed any additional smoke/heat? Like paint on the exhaust burning/smoking.
Now root cause? The mechanical internals of the pump are lubricated with...
Injectors don't fail by clogging, they fail by wear and start leaking or poor pattern. Poor pattern is most noted at low power levels like idle speed stability.
Since these nozzles are 2-hole, they are most probably good unless this is a very high mileage engine.
This could be injection...
Hopefully you have some "pull" with your inspection service and not the brakes. I doubt they have a brake testing machine that can handle it. And while it has a firm pedal, if the other 5 sets of shoes are wet with brake fluid, it won't pass. Yeah, had a bad dream about it last night.
Now if...
VelociT and myself took part in this experiment in bare minimum wheel bearing/brake service. We didn't have a wheel dolly and since there was insufficient driveway width, it would not have worked anyway. Then there was the issue of a 3" octagon wrench...we found a 3-1/2" so I shimmed it with...
Ether isn't a good thing for an engine with such a high compression ratio. The high compression is necessary for multifuel use. Yes, gasoline is harder to ignite. Aviation gasoline is very hard to ignite with compression ignition.
But ether? It is VERY easy to ignite, compression or...
He has the media blaster. I have a feeling I will be spending time helping him on this project. This is fine, as long as I don't have to paint the thing. I'm ok on touch-ups and small areas, I just don't like doing large areas.
And yes, I can weld.
