    M35A2 Deuce project

Right now I'm doing mine on a gravel driveway...

Part prices: Winch, hard top, heater

HEY!! You need to be finding me a left fender first! Don't I have you under contract?? BTW, I got those Budd parts, thanks a million, I owe you some beers!

Part prices: Winch, hard top, heater

For $1000, somebody fairly good with sheet metal could probably fab a hardtop. It also seem weird that a winch would get more money that even a "new" engine.

    Deuce Spare Tire mount

I would recommend that when you mount it on the frame, you use a couple of washers to leave a space between the mount and the frame. That way moisture doesn't cause rusting there. I'm going to use grade 8 washers when I remount mine. I had heavy rust on the frame and mount where they were...

Loud Bang and Lost Air Pressure in A2

Hmm, a bell sound might have been the pulley...or some cast piece.

Loud Bang and Lost Air Pressure in A2

The belt flying off and hitting the inside of the fender well or hood probably caused that bang you heard. You might be able to find some marks where it hit. There's a lot of power behind them when they break. I've seen them rip out cooling and oil lines.

    Axle vents

I plan on putting in a remote vent on my deuce while I have it all apart.

    Show your 24087 deuces!!!

That's exactly how I hope mine will look when I get it done. Mine will be lettered for the 73rd Inf Brigade, my first Guard unit.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Well today was a good day. I went to pull off the spare tire mount, and found it would be virtually impossible without pulling the air tanks out. The bed is off so I can get to the bolts. NONE of them stripped out, that's gotta be a first. All the air line fittings came off easily too...

    Budd lug nut question

Thanks for all the info and offers guys, I'm set now.

    winch

Most guys on here are GROWN MEN, not just some "dude". Many have served in the military, or have been in this particular hobby for quite some time and have extensive experience and knowledge and are due some respect. Especially when their their title is ADMINISTRATOR, and yours is PRIVATE...

It's what's under the hood that counts

I never really cared for Cat engines, they never seemed to be especially powerful or sound all that distinctive. They're reliable, just nothing to get excited about to me. Of course for a deuce, that's a lot of engine. I'd rather have a Cummins personally, just my flavor.

    Budd lug nut question

I took off the duals to go through the axles and paint, but on one wheel, I was taking the nut off and it stuck on the end of the cap, and then the cap came off, leaving it stuck in the hole in the rim. I'm thinking I might have to cut it off to get it out of the rim. Does anyone know if these...

    Fire Extinguishers in our MVs

We're not off topic, we're still talking about using extinguishers. Glad to hear you volunteered, you sound like you'd be a good asset.

    Fire Extinguishers in our MVs

Didn't the neighbor inform you if everyone was out?? Once everyone is out, it's just a house. I'm sure you're more valuable than a building. I still think you should see about volunteering with the FD, sounds like they need more people.

    Fire Extinguishers in our MVs

First off, it's great that you were able to help your neighbor. But on the flip side, you just about killed yourself in the process. Please don't think a gas mask is a suitable substitute for SCBA. While a gas mask MAY filter out some gases, it WILL NOT make up for the lack of oxygen. That...

    Duda sock filters

Does anyone here use these? I bought some 4x16" ones (10,1, and 0.5 micron) and the disk they fit on and I'm trying to figure out the best way to use them. For simplicity sake, I'm just plan on using gravity to provide pressure. I'll have a reservoir at the top made from a 4" PVC pipe, that...

Any suggested improvements on my WMO filter setup before I use it?

Uh, wouldn't gasoline be on top?? And oil would be in the bottom third would it not? I think you're off on the order of specific gravities. http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/specific-gravity-liquid-fluids-d_294.html

Fuel leak on line coming out of passenger side filter.

Take it apart again and make sure there's not a crack in the flare or the nut. And double check that there's not a piece of dirt that's gotten in there. There's also the possibility that it's been stretched out too much to seal.

I want to get a Deuce.

We aren't wrong. And you can probably double the price of insurance just for being in NY. And just because you've driven a car a couple of times, it does not by ANY stretch of the imagination mean that you are an experienced driver. You SHOULD NOT be counting on driving a deuce as your first...
