I make PTO shafts at work with off the shelf parts from a local truck shop. Most are crank driven so they also run at engine speed. You just buy the yokes and joints you need and cut the shaft to length.
Ford had Spicer make a special size oddball joint just to keep things from being interchangeable. I think it's the 1330F. Changed the cap size slightly. They didn't use to make conversion joints and I had to buy 2 joints and switch the caps to fit Ford axles under Jeeps!
Sent from my SPH-L710...
I'm not sure what year the new style head gasket came out but your engine is a pretty early one. At least you'll know what you have when your done the repairs.
I wish I would have anti seized the screw in the access plate under the drivers feet 4 years ago when I had it open last!
Put a rivnut in and a SS bolt with antiseize. Sprayed some rusty metal primer in there and went to the beer store. No noise from the new PTO and the hub I just resealled...
I was looking for an old HH in my garage to offer for a spare for someone but can't seem to find it. Which isn't new, can't seem to find a lot of things lately.
But I did find a set of multi fuel injector nozzles that are suppose to be bigger than stock. They may just be LDS nozzles but I have...
Just finished replacing a front axle seal and boot.
How many of you have dropped the balls? It's been so long since I did one I forgot how much fun it was!
Almost ready for winter.
OK. Now I see what is broken. When you said everything stopped, I assumed it was the PTO to power divider shaft. I didn't know the hoist drive line was so intricate.
You need a hydraulic swivel like newer wreckers. You could mount the pump right off the power divider and run the 2 lines up...
Spicer yoke for transfer PTO end. I'd pull your yoke to check and make sure this is correct.http://www.northerndrivetrain.com/product/SPI-3-4-1501-1.html

You could pull the yoke from your PTO and replace it with one with a newer series u-joint. It's a 10 spline standard size, any driveshaft shop should have. I don't know what the power divider has though.
The 10 speed would be a great help. You could run a PTO off it and convert it all to hydraulic.
I'm glad to hear the Jakes work well. That makes me feel better about the $ spent and work to be done.
What is the hard part to find in the shaft? I have a shop I deal with at work to have PTO...
Got that truck ready for this winter? I've been picking up Jake brake parts when I find them. Hope to get that done soon. Was just reading through your install again to see of I forgot anything!
It is just a little smaller than ideal. It actually makes more torque than the 939 series motor. It is slower than the 939 though. Should produce a 19,000-20,000 lb pull and will take 18 min. to pay out 200' of cable.
What do you guys plug the holes in the cab with? Convoy light installed still leaves a few holes in the back. There are a couple extra holes in the firewall too. The bees like to get in through there.
I almost got a feral cat last year. Was under my hood to stay warm. Block heater on. Got out...
