Thanks, I'm as curious as you Devin, no waste gate, the description from the TM: "...dual chambered specifically designed for this engine to provide proper airflow at all engine speeds"....
Ryan, the 6-speed automatic has a hydraulic brake built in and there is a large transmission fluid cooler. The system only has a "dummy" light for monitoring, which turns on at 305°F, so I feel that a gauge will be better, never cared much for dummy lights.
The EGT gauge displays readings from...
"Closed crankcase vent", with that I assume you mean recirculating the fumes back into the air intake after filtering out the oil, which drains back into the crankcase.
Add-on systems like that are available from Donaldson and Racor....
How is the blow-by handled on the FMTV and newer trucks?
Is it included in the total emission measurement to meet EPA standrds?
Forgive my stupid questions, I'm retired and have way too much time on my hands and two big MVs in the yard. :-)
RE: Re: RE: Some more pictures of the FMTV
I'm taking notes....
So, would you have placed the radiator differently on the HEMTT to gain interior cab space?
Since we are looking at original design prototypes here, I think I can finally ask this question, "why place the crane at the end of the bed" as if it was an afterthought, I see it on FMTVs and HEMTTs?
With a dozen years of experience with the knuckleboom, being able to clear the road in front...
Re: RE: Some more pictures of the FMTV
Doesn't this create problems in rain and snow and how is the air flow into a horizontal radiator hehind the cab? Did you intend to have a cover for it?
Like I stated, rough calculations, but I now have a starting point, and sooner or later the real numbers will emerge, including brand new emission data on the old multifuel, they still run as good as ever and the data can still be obtained. :-)
I based the power usage on the BTU value of the...
Thanks Bob for that informative response! Lots of tidbits to research.
From my own rough calculations, based on horsepower and fuel consumption/hr the BSFC for the multi is about 0.38. Assuming that it takes about 100 HP to run the deuce at 50 MPH with a MPG of about 10.
That can be fine tuned...
How much of this would you say was incorporated into the desing of the 1969 Ford M656 series?
I have to ask since the xm757 is my new baby. :-)
I also assume that all previous MVs must have been studied thoroughly by your group, so as not to reinvent all of it....then again perhaps when building...
