I was going through my VFD's webpage and I came across a pic of the "high dollar" Humvee fire truck.
And BTW, that Hemi ain't for sale. Don't ask.[thumbzup]
Coincindentally, that's a '54 Dodge model R. It has a V-8 Hemi engine (forget the CID) and 7,500 ORIGINAL miles. Still pumps great, last used on a run in the early nineties I believe. It's not the fastest thing of the line, but it will do 65 on the freeway. Kinda feels weird driving that...
Here's a couple of pics of a HMMWV that the VFD I'm on used to have. There were two of them, identical on the outside except the number and the one that was used as a grass truck had a vinyl cover instead of the hatch in the back. The one in the pic was used as a first responder vehicle, and...
The minimum rated ABC extinguisher I would carry would be a 3A-40BC size. Of course, if possible bigger would be better. Or more than one. NEVER buy the extinguishers with the plastic tops, they can't be refilled or recharged. They're disposable so after their shelf life is up they're trash...
While you got your welder going, weld up some 1/4" bar stock so it covers the lid and you can padlock it. We used to have that set up on our parts and tool cabinets, but not as heavy as 1/4". They'll need a spud bar or C-4 to get it open then.;-)
And to further screw up your KISS method, current standards call for the wig wags to automatically shut off when you are in park so oncoming drivers aren't blinded and can see firefighters on the ground. I'd also look into LED's, a lot less draw on the electrical system, and Friggin' BRIGHT...
Well if it's got water in one, you'll have to check them all. Wheel bearings will all have to be checked and repacked. I never pulled a differential, but depending on how long that water's been in there, they may need more than just flushed out.
"Sitting" where? Inside a barn? Out in the woods? Inside a nice garage?
If it's been out it the weather and environment, you're almost guaranteed to to have condensation in the engine, tranny, TC, axles, basically everywhere. You also may have rodent damage and nests in places that can...
That cake reminded me of some of the work I've seen on some of the cooking shows that had professional cake decorators. My daughter was thinking of being a chef for a while so we'd watch the show together. I think this lady could compete with some of the work those pros did.
We used to have a shop truck that I was able to stand up in, and I'm 6' 1". We also had sheets of white fiberglass like the kind lining semi trailers over the ribs and under the tarp. It helped keep water out and made it brighter inside since we had our parts and tool cabinets in the back. I...
I just talked to a guy in my unit that was with the Tenth Mountain in Somalia, he said yes they did have Deuces there. They did also use 5 tons, so both are correct.
Spencer, if the guy doesn't know that the buzzer is for low air, HE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THE TRUCK!!! Especially as an emergency vehicle. He obviously has not had enough training, and most likely the rest of the firefighters haven't either.
I didn't say he should not be using a deuce for...
Welllll, I wasn't gonna go that far. I was thinking with the wheel covers, stainless stack and a coat of clear gloss (over OD green), it would kinda resemble a soldier in his Dress Greens. Maybe a couple of other embellishments like chrome mirrors too. But all that stuff would be easy to...
I could just get a big sheet of silver mylar like they use for those balloons and make a tarp too!!
(Warning: I'm already a bit warped, so encouraging me doesn't help the situation!)
:-P
Ok, another one for you. Can you get stainless steel or chrome wheel covers that fit the wheels on a deuce? Or baby moons for the back wheels? I'm thinking that with a stainless exhaust and glossy clear coat might make a classy ride. Still in dreaming mode.
If they had the turrets on, they may be too tall to truck on a flatbed. They could possibly be going to Ft. Dix for Mob. training.
So far I've been in an RG-33, A Caiman, and Drove and rode in a MaxxPro Plus.
The MaxxPro is like driving an armored beach ball, the thing bounces all over the...
