oops...whenever I say SATCOM, I really mean SINGARS. My bad. They are in fact two different things.
So I only get 1/2 credit.
I have noticed those are starting to infiltrate the market. More and more are showing up at swap meets, etc.
I have thought about getting a time-proper...
With all due respect sir, that is not an MT1029. That is the newer version. I think it is an MT6352.
The difference is the vertical cable terminals facing up. The MT1029 only has them underneath. The MT6352 works with the newer VIC-3 too.
It is for the newer SATCOM stuff.
Ok, wait a minute......There are actually two variations of that type of trailer. One was a tower for radio use, the other was a tower for lights (as in floodlights). They had two different kinds of towers. The light towers weren't quite as tall as the towers intended for an antenna.
I am...
The ordinary flat black from WalMart, (I think it's about $1.50 a can) WILL turn to chalky grey after a year in the sun. I promise.
The Ultra flat (black in this case) camo paint they sell however works much better in the sunlight/fade issue.
I've seen those around. It looks like all they did was take the deck/bed off of an M103 generator trailer and dropped an S250 shelter on it. Moveable communications /retrans stations.
The extendable tongue thing might be a run-what-ya-brung affair.
I believe you have the newer "Singars" stuff. The common RT524/RT246/R442 etc, will not work with that stuff. There is a market for it, but it sure isn't as popular as the older stuff. Not yet and not in our circles anyway. I hate to say it, but it is for the most part, too new.
There is a TM that explains the process.
It is a paint by number thing. Brush, roller, spray gun, broom, sponge, and derivitives/combinations thereof.
I have seen rigs come in (at Idaho Motor Pool for example) with some of the best and worst looking patterns and applications. So...
I think that was the rubber shield mentioned earlier. I've seen those rubber heat protection things (usually used for the GRC-106 antenna set-up, due to the burn possible from 400 watts of love!)
I doubt it is an MX6707. I would bet it is an AS3916, or what's called a VSQ-1 antenna. Most HMMWVEs were/are using Singars stuff, so the MX6707 became outdated. The actual antenna looks the same from a distance, but the threads where the antenna screws onto the base are different.
It...
Probably one of the easiest ways to determine what series it is would be to look at the radio mount, or I should say see if it has a n MT1029 or the newer radio mount. They are easy to distinguish one from another. The MT1029 mount does not have three terminals facing up in addition to the ones...
The 10613 goes from a power outlet, such as the outlet box on a Gamagoat, to an MX7777. It will NOT go from the power outlet to an MT1029. That is what the 13089 does.
The easiest way to tell a 10613 is you can take that cable ( AND IT'S THE ONLY CABLE) and screw each end into an MX7777...
I just had Goodyear 16.00x20's mounted on my M54. It doesn't wander from lane to lane as I was told it would, however it bounces pretty bad. What tire pressure should I start with? And can I guess changing it in 5 pound increments would make a noticable difference?
And how do I stop the...
I learned a trick a few years ago on how to clean and shine up a rusty chain.......Get your 4 wheeler or dirt bike out, get a rope or another chain hooked up the rear of the rig, attach the rusty one to that, and drive around for awhile on a gravel or better yet--sandy road. (Dirt roads will...
I found an even better use. I polished all my gauges to look like new. No more foggy gauges.
One minor detail though...be careful on either the gauges or the lenses if you are using any type of powered rotary device (such as a cordless drill) to speed things up..... the most minute amount of...
