I'm swapping a winch for an axle (all for the xm757 8x8) and need a front winch transported to the Tulsa area. Getting the axle back here is not critical and can be done at any time.
Lifting/loading devices are available at both sites.
Agreed, having chains all around changes everything, it can easily handle 20% slopes with a foot of snow. The chains are self cleaning and the tires don't have to be aired down. Rubber bungy cords are necessary to keep the chains on correctly...
Please, define the problem more specifically, what have you done about checking filters and batteries, for example? How about the fuel cut-off lever?
Glad you got it running, at least, were you able to use the pump I sent'ya?
:-)
It was parked elsewhere during the snow fall and covered at the time.
You'd be surprised how warm it gets after the engine has been running for a while. The defroster didn't handle the windshield very well, though, that's why it's flipped open.
It's not so bad when you are dressed for outdoors work, feels good in the sun and you can't beat the visibility, which is important when off road.
As far as weight on the rear axles, it helps, but much better with a couple of bigs logs loaded up, which are easy to handle with the crane. But...

For safety's sake, don't stand near the wire rope when winching.
It's good to have Tatra owners with us and an opportunity to get questions answered that have been lingering!
Here are a couple:
1) How are the axles configured for highway driving, are they separated by differentials?
2) How do you gain access to the inside of the tube for service? How much of...
Appreciate your comments Tatra813, you refer to the deuce a number of times, there is no comparison to the 8x8 m656/xm757. The m656 beats the 2-1/2 and 5 ton 6x6s hands down in all tests shown in Aberdeen Proving Grounds vintage videos...
The idea is to stick to 8x8 type suspensions, the dual...
Nice install Tom, doesn't take much more space than the hot water heater. The one shown uses air from the inside of the cab, though.
The fuel pump is not visible.
Thanks Allen, much appreciated, guess it's up to the offroaders to decide if it's worth the complexity.
The objection may be that an independent suspension doesn't lift the vehicle over an obstacle, although it provides for a "nicer" ride.
