    XM757 B&A detail

Will, the non-illuminated area in front, caused by the bumper being in the way, would only be a problem off-road, I think. A second set of lights below the originals could take care of it. No biggie, if I were to do anything to the bumper, I'd put lightening holes in it, like the M135, but like...

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

Are you saying that the pressure across your filters is 13 psi? If that's true, then it won't be long before 15 psi is reached and the bypass regulator will start doing its job. During my preliminary measurements, I came up with about 6 psi for my stock filter set-up. A lower pressure...

    tires

For better wet pavement traction, get a siping tool and sipe you NDCCs.... http://www.off-road-outdoors.com/tire-siping.html

cross country tool and sprae part list

Think in terms of what you need for specific tasks, such as changing a tire (jack, lugnut wrench and road emergency triangles/reflectors), replacing a headlight (spare light bulbs), the turn signal flasher (get a spare, no fun in traffic without a flasher), check the fuel tank for contaminents...

    Fuel in the Oil

Here is one place near you, also try NAPA for kits...about $15.00, which includes return postage. Will, not yet, I have the oil pan gasket nothing else, wanted the bearing set on hand also, but my currently small monthly budget for the MVs doesn't let me do much. I use the truck around the yard...

    12 volt relays

Re: RE: 12 volt relays Generally speaking, I used a linear voltage regulator for each circuit (stop/turn/tail) and let a 60 Hz ocillator enable it when needed. It was pretty compact with 3 input leads and 3 output leads plus a ground. It was only suitable for incandescent light bulb loads...

    12 volts from a 24 volt system

Re: RE: Re: 12 volts from a 24 volt system Patrick, let's say that you are using the lower battery extensively, (current exceeding the equalizer capacity) and then shut down the engine/charging system, do you not risk ending up with two poorly charged batteries for the next time the engine is...

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

"Post filter" will pump unfiltered oil thru your system, probably not a good idea.

    12 volt relays

I built a square wave "chopper" for each line a couple of years ago. The 12 volt bulbs run fine on a 50% duty cycle 24volt square wave....

    XM757 B&A detail

Thanks. I don't care for lights in or on a bumper, just doesn't make sense. The cargo version of the truck has the space between the cab and bumper filled with foam for floatation....

    Relays are good.

    Fuel in the Oil

I'm sure Greg, it would also be of great interest to know how much fuel you would collect with that "rinse", an analysis would be nice to see on that batch. After my fuel-in-oil discovery, I only changed the filter and the oil, no "rinse" cycle....probably should do another analysis myself....

    XM757 B&A detail

Sometimes it's fun to look back at the original and get an understanding for why it takes so long to get this thing on the road. Here is a before and after picture of the LF light treatment. It's all functional at this time. The bumper does cast a shadow right in front, but it doesn't appear to...

    overdrive gears available soon

I'm sure you will test your new transmission, and report the findings, especially when the truck is loaded. I can imagine that you won't be able to use 5th gear much at all when loaded down or at least having to shift down more often. Running empty is not a condition on which to base a redesign...

    12 volts from a 24 volt system

Yes, but you should ideally recharge both batteries to the same condition after each use, like in when you get back home. How much power (=current drain) is needed?

    Re-Powering The Deuce With A 5-Ton LDS-465-1A Engine

Ernie, there is a pressure regulator on the engine, located below the turbo and you should not have to worry about exceeding about 70 psi ever. If you want to make use of your second mushroom, install a fuel burning heater and get rid of the hot water heater (which really isn't good for your...

    Filters

This may not rank as one of my better advice, but for a short test on a clear calm day, remove the filter element and drive without any at all, to see what the difference is at the extreme. Chances are that there will be very little difference unless the engine is working at full load/power. I...

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

Looking great, having a lifting/handling device at hand makes all the difference. So, the hump in the cab is only for cooling air to the engine, I noticed this on Leonard's Baby HEMTT? On my 8x8 the engine is located in this spot, also placed lower for a lower CG. Love the comparison, keep the...

    electric winch on deuce

Right, but do consider the stresses on the crane mount. That's where the second snatch block comes in, to maximize the pull and minimize the stress on the crane mount... The idea is useful for wreckers also.

    overdrive gears available soon

Kenny, I never had any problems with speed in 5th gear with my 1100's, my empty weight is 17,000 lb. Top speed just over 60 mph for hours on end. Wouldn't even want to drive that fast with the loads I was hauling last year cross country, 55 was plenty good. My problem, if any, with the gear box...
