What you need to mate that one is MS3106A22-23P plus a clamp MS3057-12A. The one in your hand should have the numbers 22-23S marked on the insert portion.
Kind of hard to avoid ACE, it's right in my face. :-)
I'll have a second button for the air horn.
Of course, many others have contributed one way or another.
Cabell, thanks, but I'm sticking with the originals for the time being. Now if you find any 16-20 low profile radials that's another story.
Mike, Patrick knows what he is talking about....no question about that, but to do it step by step, just locate the "horn breaker" and make sure you have battery voltage on #10.
The schematic diagram is good, but the "ground" connections should be identified as "frame", "engine block", "firewall"...
If all the answers were to be found in the TMs, then there would be no need for the PS magazines, which serve as a Post Script to them...
besides it's fun to get answers off the forum, it's personalized sort of. :-)
Shear pins PS mag style...
The front and rear bogies are generally the same except narrower in the front to allow for steering...and yes, same "walkng beam" as the M35, but with fewer leaves, which may have made the shocks necessary. May allow for higher off road speed, don't know....
Can't answer the Allison shifting...
The front wheels have "steps" on them...if that's what you mean.
Bruce, I honestly don't have enough money to go "shopping" for parts and it's no fun to find parts and not being able buy them. Tom hasn't chimed in when it comes for spare parts, so I don't think he has anything left.
I have been...
Thanks for your support!
I'll post more pictures from other angles now that I can move it around, the front has been facing NW and the sun was not hitting it right for good pictures.
Fortunately, there are many more things to work on, the electrical, the cab, the winch for example and I'll...
With the engine running smoothly, I simply couldn't wait to take the next step, so on went the tires and a short test run followed.
It just floats over the humps, the power steering working great and the power brakes are superb. It's nice to hear the turbo as I let off the "gas", it still smokes...
Anybody know what the rating is for the 5-ton multifuel engine starter? The tag doesn't have that info. Or perhaps the current rating of the solenoid contactor.
TIA
RE: problem
For one of my articles, I took apart several regulators (the 25 amp) and made a schematic diagram based on that. They do not have any tolerance for load dumps. I added a large varistor to my regulator to provide protection. It's all in the article, boring reading I know. :-)
The...
Take it out, clean all surfaces and reinstall and tighten to 50 to 55 ft-lb.
All the lines should have compression fittings and for plastic/nylon tighten firmly, that's all.
When installing new plastic lines, make sure the the tubing entry into the fitting is straight or else the ferrule will...
Poor battery connections can (will?) cause a phenomenon called "load dump", electrical spikes at 100 volts or more. The result is a blown regulator and possible damage to other electronics gear.
RE: slings
I have used chains a lot. Like them because they are infinitley adjustable lengthwise.
6 ft straps, chains and load binders are always carried along on the "cranetruck".
The 3-point sling shown in the cab lift thread has been very useful, which came from Wayne Harris BTW.
Something like that, I'm concerned that it may be the solenoid, a bad spot on the contact disc. Experienced the same thing on the deuce last year and ended up replacing the starter.
Firstly, I want to be dead sure it isn't the batteries or the connections, it's not a permanent setup yet.
Chuck...
After spending the better part of the week putting everything back together again with some additions, I started the engine this afternoon and let it run for 1-1/2 hours. It sounds great, need to fix a few air leaks and it needs a new oil filler cap.
Even tested the transmission and brakes...
