Jeff, this is what it looked like, it wasn't all on the deuce and the brakes were hooked up on the 757 (we loaded more cargo on both vehicles after this picture was taken).

    overdrive gears available soon

My empty weight is 17,000 lb (K-boom) and have had a total rig weight of 36,000 lb. The top speed is of minor importance when you put the truck to work IMHO. Don't care much for the relatively big step between 3rd and 4th, though...

    Fording Kit Update

Nice work! Have you attacked the crankcase breather yet? Finding a place to ford is going to be your biggest problem.:-) ......Not to mention those "after fording" maintenance routines....

    WTB: Fuel burning heater

RE: This is the one I have Looks like a 30,000 BTU heater and pretty complete too. In my picture below, the unit on the left is a 20,000 BTU heater and the other two are 30,000.

    WTB: Fuel burning heater

CS, i think the van body version is a 30,000 BTU version, pictures will tell.

    WTB: Fuel burning heater

ACE, you wouldn't have rebuild kits for the fuel control valves, would you?

    WTB: Fuel burning heater

Little hard to make out in your image, but this is what you need. A separate fuel pump is also required, perhaps it's installed on your truck...

    California High Desert "Rally"

RE: got some pics of camping areas Beautiful area! Read about the site and found this: "All vehicles must have a muffler or spark arrester ..." It may be something to consider.

    Interested in offroading in Virginia?

RE: VA Rally I'm interested, although the preoccupation with the 8x8 has kept me from making any plans for a year....

    WTB: Fuel burning heater

Bruce, the model you should look for is the Stewart Warner South Wind 8420 (or pehaps 8420024). You will also need the control box with two switches, a light and a 5-pin connector in the back.

    WTB: Fuel burning heater

Hey Bruce, if you find one and need help getting it running, call me (PM), I got to know them pretty well working with them to get one good one for the 8x8. You need the 20,000 BTU version, right?

multifuel fuel pump hydraulic head removel

RE: oh..and For your LDS465 engine, basically: 1) Remove the steel lines to the injectors 2) Remove the cover for the fuel cut-off mechanism 3) Remove the fuel cut-off lever (be careful with the "tooth" at the end which is loose) 4) Turn engine over manually until a scored gear tooth (may be...

    Alcohol Evaporator Dryer Comparison

Any "automatic" air dryer will benefit from an alcohol evaporator since the accumulated water would freeze if not heated (=24vdc drain). If I only had the choice of one device, it would be the alcohol evaporator/vaporizer. The small "Bendix" unit in Ethan's picture is shown in many TM's and is...

    Pyrometers, options, mounts...

FWIW, any K-type thermocouple will work with any gauge. If you don't have a bundle to spend on this, don't compromise on the probe and get the best quality probe obtainable (Hewitt is up there), so you don't have to worry about anything melting and ruining your turbo. The gauges can be found...
