Well, we are back safe and sound...stil waiting for a call from Tyler, he made a side trip to Tony's house and Franks..KE6KZE..house for some gasser books. MAN, tyler is determined!! That gasser is amazing. You should ahve seen the hills he went up last night! Here's a few pics, I'll do more later
FedEx gas is when the package van drivers put unleaded in the tank of their diesel powered trucks...happens to Penske, Scully, Ryder and all sorts of others. The trucks get towed to me and I reap the benefits! In a 20 gallon container, I put 15 Gallons of the FedEx stuff and 5 of good diesel...
RE: Convoy signs, and free reflective material.
Remember, I'm leaving my house at noon. It's 30 miles to the 15 and I will be stopping to hook up wit Will and Frank. We'll be there closer to 1 PM. The multi won't be spankin' you too hard up the hill. I don't go any faster. Besides, you only go...
RE: 6tl
Give them time Mike. I have had good luck with Interstate in my Suburban, pick-ups, trailer and Honda. The batteries in the deuce are 6tls with an '85 date code and still going strong...knock on wood! They will get back with you.
Tried a search...nuttin'. Looked in the manual in the TM section, has a pic of the knots for the cover from far away! I tried tying them like the deuce, but they come loose. Anyone got a close up pic and maybe a helpful walkthru on securing the cover to the hooks?
RE: Convoy signs, and free reflective material.
Tyler, It's a few miles pasdt the 210/15 interchange, just before you get to the bridge over Lytle Creek. The stations are on the left...west side of the highway. Got my canvas on Sunday. Will got his on too and we serviced his. Wayne Rothrock...
RE: Re: RE: Cummins smoke
Swapping a cam won't any good. It's not like a gasser. The only way to make more power is with fuel and add a turbo.
M215, sounds like you might have an injector out of it. Start it cold and feel the exhaust manifold at each cylinder. The one that warms up slow or not...
Remember, it's non turboed and limited by the no piston cooling issue. You could make bunch of power...for a very limited time then hang the pistons. The big cam and small cam are the same dimensions. A big cam will fit, just groom the exhaust and intake over, then you could make more power w/o...
1st, it's COLD there. If it wasn't up to temp...180, it will smoke. Pumps can't be advanced on a PT system. It is wet linered, so a cracked block is out. Head gaskets leaking would give a noticable "chirp" under a load, the compression is sealed by a 1/32 ridge on the liner. Small cams will leak...
It does look a tad tall. Nice truck, 1stDeuce! Shop around for parts, download the TMs...they are free here. Do NOT be afraid to ask questions! What are you gonna tow it home with and how far?
No lookin' that up here. The manuals do not go into that detail. The base timing is done thru a key in the nose of the cam. Fine timing is done thru the gaskets on the cam boxes. Unless you have lots of white smoke at start up, don't mess with the timing. If you want HP, you only need to turn...
