I would recommend draining and thoroughly cleaning the tank and fuel lines. Replace the primary filter and replace the secondaries again, even though you already have once. Make sure you get all the air out. This may or may not fix your problem, but should be done in any case if your fuel was...
I have no idea what the numbers on your glovebox mean, but my A3 has similar numbers on the inside of the glovebox. I did have legible bumper numbers, however.
I for one have made a donation to the Gene Vance Jr Foundation and did not mention SS. I didn't really think about it. To be sure, future donations will include the project.
That makes a lot of sense and explains why I get so much more mileage with my empty A2. I'm still not sure why I get so much less with my empty A3 than some others do. When the weather improves, I'll go through the truck and see if I can find the cause.
Thanks for posting that chart. I get considerably more than the 5.15 - 6.18 mpg shown in the chart. I'm almost getting twice that. I know my speedometer is reading correctly because I've compared it to my GPS. Almost everyone I've heard from gets better than those numbers. When I first got...
Is there something on the engine that is painted green that can easily be removed and taken to a paint shop and scanned? Or a small chip of paint that can be scanned? Once you know the color you can get some mixed and loaded into rattle cans or use a sprayer.
You might also try calling Cat...
There are normally a lot of companies that will deliver offroad diesel to your home, which saves you the problem of handling 55-gallon drums. Even 16 gallon drums are quite heavy.
I now have both an A2 and an A3 I just acquired and I have to admit I don't know which one I like the most. I like them both - they are completely different vehicles.
Because diesel fuel doesn't last more than about two years without degrading, I use the fuel tanks on my M35A2 and newly acquired M35A3 deuces, along with two John Deere tractors for fuel storage. I always keep them topped off. My MEP-003A came with the auxillliary hose and bung hole adapter...
I don't think they can legally charge you for obstructing traffic. I believe federal regulations mandates a minimum of 45 mph on all interstates and this is doable in a stock A3 without overspeeding the engine in most situations. I have never heard of a minimum speed on state highways, but I...
I've seen a lot of A3s with the green engines, with relatively low miles. I find it hard to believe that there have been that many failures of Cat engines to account for all the green engines.
I think you may have a bad volt meter. You have replaced and checked so many things, there isn't much left. I had another vehicle that I bought for a really cheap price because the volt meter stayed almost pegged all the time, although the measured voltage was within specs. I repaced the volt...
The brakes are all free, so that isn't an issue. One difference was the cargo cover. My A2 has a cargo cover on it and the A3 has only the bows. I would have thought a cargo cover would have added more drag, but who knows? I plan to change the fluid in the Allison, but I wouldn't expect that...
