Late Model USAF Contract M35A2C Spotters Guide

Yes, in fact at least '85 plus are all USAF contract trucks. I'm not sure if the contract went any earlier than that but I have seen early '80's USAF contract trucks as well.

Is there a certain year to look for when buying?

14 rigs? Good golly miss molly. You can pretty much expect to have at least 20 now that you're diving into the Military Vehicle scene. LOL, you just wait...you'll know what I'm talking about as soon as you bring your first one home:-P Married? Be ready to be doing lots of explaining and spending...

Is there a certain year to look for when buying?

Private party affords the ability to drive the truck and test everything out before buying. GL at FT Lewis doesn't allow you to do anything to the truck (ie:start is up) before bidding. You do take a bit of a gamble buying from GL in respect to this. You don't know if you're bidding on a...

Is there a certain year to look for when buying?

In a standard pre '86 deuce, if you loose just one wheel cylinder----NO BRAKES!!! The '87 and later models have the front brakes on a separate circuit than the rears. With a 13,000 # truck that can be an issue with our good ole I-5 traffic. The truck does come equipped with a "Parking Brake" but...

Is there a certain year to look for when buying?

Well, actually one major difference is the braking system. If you wish to have a split brake system then you'll need to find a '87 and later model USAF contract M35A2C. All pre-'86 trucks have the standard single circuit braking systems. Other than that they are all basically the same. The very...

    Deuce in Iowa???

Hmm, I do have one question. It appears the truck has a Sprag transfer case (vs an airshift transfer case). Definately need to ask the owner if the Sprag is good to go. This accounted for one of the biggest factors in a deadlined deuce while in service. Drive it and see what you think!

    Gillesp. or carc

Gillespie paint is a great CARC substitute. However, the Gillespie flat black is way too glossy. You'd be best going with Krylon camo flat black for that application. Of course, however close Gillespie tries to get to CARC, it just does not have that nice dull rough look to it. So it all depends...

    Split Brakes

Also don't forget the air tanks. My split system has a dual chambered air tank on one of the tanks. So I've got 3 air tank drains valves that I need to drain at the end of the day. The great thing about the A2 (not sure if same for the A3's) is the Master Cylinder incorporates the PTO engagement...

Hey there, the one's on GSA are those thin non-insulated ones. There a fellow SS from TX who is selling them for Vietnam Veteran's of America or something like that. The ones he is selling are the really thick 3 color camo insulated ones for like $200 or so. Sorry I dont remember what his name...
