Where do your folks live Scott? Did you say they are just off Yelm Hwy (Tuwmater, Lacey)? If so then we can take the route through Yelm/McKenna and definately make a Brad stop if he is feeling better.
This will forever be a battle within the SS ranks. MV PURISTS vs MV CUSTOMIZERS. Thinking about it, I guess I would fall in the PURIST. My main attraction towards these trucks is the history they can tell. Kind of think of it as a moving monument for those who served before me. I suppose the...
Ok Aaron and Josh. As far as the route is concerned. We have a number of different ways we can go. If you guys need any parts for your trucks we can make a stop along the way to my parts guy in McKenna. I'll have to call him ahead of time with what you guys need so he can get them pulled for...
I hear you. I redid all of my wheel cylinders on my '68 w/only 5k miles on it from a Tooele Rebuild in 1990. 3/6 wheel cylinders were completely seized up. Truck stopped just great with no issues. Just decided to go in and check everything out....glad I did.
Hmm grubs.. I'm sure with the 10 acres that Dan has I'm sure we can dig a few up:wink: As far as the northbound convoy, I haven't gotten any takers so looks like we're just going to be driving solo to Dan's place. Not sure how many projects are planned or how long they may take, but may need to...
From inspecting GSA deuces at least, it appears maintenance was non-existent to say the least. What I've seen thus far, the risk of a GSA deuce far exceeds the ones on GL. Pretty much the GSA were just driven and thats it. The oil in the trucks I have seen were black and thick as maple syrup on...
Hey Dan, is there a preferred route to your house? To Puyallup then on down Meridian? Go down Canyon Road? Back route through Yelm/McKenna? Any construction issues to avoid?
This thread is outstanding! Chris you may have started this thread to show your progress on resurrecting this piece of military hardware. However, your thread goes much further than that. I'll be honest with you. When I saw the initial truck, my thoughts were less than positive. However...
Ok gentlemen, anyone interested in convoying to Dan's place? This is mainly for those heading northbound I-5 through Olympia (actually it's for anyone). My plan is to meet at the Tumwater (just hair south of Olympia) Home Depot parking lot at 1101 Kingswood Drive SW, Tumwater, WA 98501 at 0800...
Yikes, good to know. Good info especially for those putting winch kits on their trucks. Another tidbit of info is the '87 and up deuces do not require the PTO shift lever bracket!!. The bracket is built into the master cylinder on the split brake master cylinder.
