    Knuckle Boom Crane on M35A2C

Pictures of the HIAB at work. They go for $3,000 to $9,000 these days. Total weight is about 4,000 lb. Requires about 15 hp to operate. Pump should be capable of delivering up to 10gpm at 3,000 psi.

    Knuckle Boom Crane on M35A2C

This may be the Grove (HEMTT) crane Bruce is referring to. Not a true knuckleboom, but has a lower profile when retracted.

    The Deuce won't start!!

RE: The Deuce won Do you have any smoke at all? If not, then there is no fuel getting to the cylinders and you'll have to visually check the fuel stop mechanism on the IP...... at least.

converting a multi fuel to diesel only

Yeah man, that thing needs to be turboed bad, with all the extra fuel it will smoke more than before, for sure.

Hooking a 24v military horn up - what connects where?

The horn "coil" like a relay coil is not effected by polarity. So connect one wire to 28 volts and run the second to the horn button to be grounded when operated. Both wires may be marked "25", although one of wires on the electrical horn on my 8x8 was marked "25A" (the other is missing).

    Oil analysis report... scary!

Checked an earlier report from a sample taken in Californa on my cross country trip. It had less than 1% fuel in the oil and viscosity was 8.8. Lead was 120ppm and only listed as "Abnormal" not critical. The FDC leak started sometime during the trip from Leonard Jones in Sacramento, CA where...

    M105A2 questions

Welcome to the steel soldiers! This should answer most of your questions. Probably not very safe behind a PU, brakes are air over hydraulic.

converting a multi fuel to diesel only

Welcome to the steelsoldiers forum! Check this link, lots of answers in the past on this subject. A search will bring them up. http://steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=11577&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 Short answer is that the FDC does not effect the way the...

On Bypass oil filters - to get the small particles

There is a precedent to having a drain directly into the oil pan, some LDS465-1 engines equipped with an IP with a separate drain.

    Subdued color question

Re: RE: Subdued color question I kind of like that. Images will be posted when I get a little further along with the paint job. Need to cut a star stencil, the ones painted over are ten inches across, front, back and on the doors. May do a smaller size for the doors...

    Stepping routine

Mike, since you are in the mode of modifying the web page, how about a stepping routine where a person could step through the most recent posts of all shown on the front page? In other words after reading post number 1, there will be a box to click on to step to the most recent entry of next...

    Georgia to Virginia

Re: RE: Georgia to Virginia Joel will have to make a stop in Charllotte, NC for that. :-)

    A second FDC, why not

Found this. As usual, you have to know what you are looking for to find it, a variation of "not seeing the trees for the forest". :-)

    First gear, always.

In need of a new air horn solenoid valve.

The air horn mod is not covered in the manuals (only electrical horn shown), so I have to go by pictures.

Main battery switch on 2.5 ton M35

500 amps peak would not be sufficient in my opinion. Switch could fuse after a few cold weather starts.

    Subdued color question

Leonard, let me rephrase, since it is such an attention getter, I'l like the lettering to be correct, just subdued. :-) Will, when were black stars introduced? The painted over ones on the truck were white... decals, judging by the thickness.

    DEUCE spin on oil filters!!!!

I hope this is not too far out of context, but there is a good reason for the self draining upside down canisters. I have brought it up a few times before and it's to be able to heat the oil in extreme cold weather. I like improvements as well, but not at the expense of reducing the...
