RE: rain
If you expect high water, plug it up the day before. If you don't have leakage issues, the plug should do no harm for several days.
But, yes a valve will work. Only needed in 30 inches or more water and then there are other things like the compressor inlet, well you know all about that.
Re: RE: Low air buzzer bother you?
Why did they authorize the red light anyway, impossible to see on a sunny day with the top off? Maybe the buzzer was a little to overbearing?
An example where a commercial relay was used when perhaps a mil spec relay should have been used.
Catalog sheets from the 1970's show what was used and what was available. Cost must have been a big factor....
Just to be different I'm using the 30W specified in the TM. It doesn't get that cold here, so with well maintained batteries it still cranks fast and starts easily in the Winter.
Texaco Ursa Super Plus heavy duty 30 W.
According to Google:
"The so-called 3/27 test, or Jan Warnquist's test, detects under-converted oil. To perform this test, dissolve 3 ml water-free biodiesel in 27 ml pure methanol in a sealed vial, and see whether any oil drops out. If it does, it's a 'fail'."
I might try it later today if I...
Otter, the vintage MV's are like large erector kits for grown-ups and we love to tinker with them, take them apart and put them back together in different configurations.
Buying something already assembled is a little like cheating, we often try to use parts around the garage to "cobble up"...
It has become an art. :-)
I use about 21% methanol any extra stays with the biodiesel, the amount of sodium hydroxide is about 25 ml/l of methanol.
The quality of the oil has not changed much over the last couple of years, so the result is pretty constant. I'm not selling any of it so the ASTM...
This is what it looks like on the inside. Wonder if the increased pressure at the three contact points makes up for the loss of total contact area?
I don't plan on using them on a vehicle, probably work good at the test bench, though.
Another example of hiding compromises in design.
On the right is the new flasher circuit, assembled with Radio Shack parts and encapsulated in black epoxy. This one didn't even have overload protection, it blows like a fuse when exposed to a shorted light filament (circa 2001).
The circuit...
Does any of you have any experience with these?
Got a battery box from an M925 today (four batteries) and found two of these terminals in the box. They have set screws for tightening and a lube nipple.
Corrosion.
All components are corroded and the printed circuit board has no conformal coating.
It is a fallacy to assume that a welded steel box is water proof when the connector is installed with a gasket. Water molecules will enter and water accumulate.
This one has a 1/8NPT pipe plug (also...
Got a junk control box today from a parts M925 in Mt Airy, NC.
I'll cut it open and see what I can find about what makes it tick or not.
It is a WSU-4003UT ord number 11669304. The M925 is a 1996, I think.
Not sure, but filters really easy, as a matter of fact filtering for the deuce with its tripple filtering system is probably not necessary. :-)
A different recipe? No, I have my fixed formula (I don't do any titration), so with the right combination of grease, oil, temperature and enough...
