    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Light, this image immediately popped into my head when I saw those photos.

    Can I revisit wet stacking?

Summerpaws - You mentioned typical outage is 1700-2000 watts for ~4hrs at a time, 4-5 times per year. If I were in your situation, I would purchase a 4500-6000 watt inverter/charger and appropriate amount of battery capacity. My choice would be a pair of Outback VFX 2800 watt inverters wired...

New to Mep-803A ownership general questions

Always. Always have cap or something rigid to plug the air intake when working through diesel engine issues incase you need to suffocate a runaway engine. Dont use a rag, it will just get sucked into the air filter or worse, the engine.

Backfeeding a panel without a proper interlock is very illegal because one error and a lineman can be killed.

These guys are cheap load banks. Some models have a 3k/4k/5k load select switch https://www.northerntool.com/products/lifeplus-ceiling-mount-garage-heater-17-065-btu-240-volt-model-ifh12a-50-107043

    - Put some load on it and get those IPs to open up and really push the fuel. Diesel's don't use much fuel unloaded. - 80 psi cold and hot is a little strange. Pressure should come down some when hot. Run through the TMs and verify the gauge and sender are working properly. Many of us tee in...

    - The air filter can be reached with the top on, it's just mildly difficult. It helps if the thumb screw is clocked correctly. - If the unit is hard to start, there may still be air in the injector lines. How hard is "hard to start"? - Best way to store these units? Opinions vary, but I...

MEP 1040 for Off Grid Travel Trailer and Temp Power for Construction

Are any of your tools 240V? 30 amps at 120V through an RV plug maxes out at 3600 watts. That is not enough to keep a 1040 from wet stacking. Even a 5kw generator would easily handle this and its likely the average load would be much lighter. If your loads are limited to 3600 watts, you may...

I looked back at what I ordered and I purchased F-4040-A, which was listed for "gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and heating oil" I need to dig into the spec furtber, but my plan is to continue monitoring for deterioration.

I also like that it's translucent and you can see the fuel flowing through it.

Lol, I don't know why the lines are so terrible, but they are. I have 1994, 2007, 2009 and 2010 units. The '94 has mostly OEM fuel lines. The newest ones have the worst lines. The 803a was decomissioned for IP feedlines leaks. These were low hour units and the feedlines were falling apart...

Need some help picking a generator for single-phase and 3-phase use

It sounds like you have two distinct situations that would not be easily covered by one generator. The two best 1P/3P generators are the MEP-802a (5kw) and the MEP-803a (10kw). Above the power output, most are 3 phase only. Some older units can be converted to single phase, but the loads are...

Also make sure the unit has the quad-fuse and MOV mods before firing it up. Here is a link for replacing the well nut on the fuel tank drain. They are notorious for cracking and leaking. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N3467JZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

How do you move your generator(s)?

1 inch cold rolled steel, turned down to 3/4" on the ends.

    AMMPS Generator Series Remote Data

Tag for more information. I'm curious what can be extracted from the J1939 data, since it is very standardized.

MEP-802A - can this thing function with a 60' exhaust run?

The length of tubing is only restricted by the backpressure it creates on the engine. The factory Lister engine service manual likely lists the allowed backpressure. (You need to include the muffler too) Cheap digital manometers are available on Amazon. Like others have said, the bigger the...

Where did you get the tank from?

mep803 goes to full overload on start up

That sounds like there is an actual short circuit. Since it happens immediately, I'm assuming, for now, that your main contactor is not energized, also, because you are indicating load on the meter, the problem is likely downstream of the current transformers (CTs). No matter what, you need...
