mep803 goes to full overload on start up

The Overload fault light is coming on? This could be a false trip or a serious short. 1. Does the engine sound like its being loaded down immediately? It is throwing black smoke beyond the normal puff on startup? 2. Does this unit have the quad fuse mod? Or MOV mod? 3. How well to you...

Thanks! It's quite the workhorse for its size.

    Putting the generators to work...

I know many of you, especially you FL guys, put your generators into action during emergency situations. This weeknd I got to put mine to use for fun and a good cause. The local school down the street had their annual fundraiser and a member of the PTA asked if I could run power at the event...

Acquired Another MEP-802A - A Couple of Questions

Look at the diagram in the upper left box. A simple DC circuit with a 1.5 volt battery and a single load that pulls 1 amp. There is an outflow of 1 amp on the upper wire, 1 amp through the load, and a return flow of 1 amp on the lower wire. Total power draw of the load is 1.5V x 1.0 A = 1.5...

Acquired Another MEP-802A - A Couple of Questions

    L1 = 2292 watts L2 = 1596 watts Total = 3.9 kW

Can I run 12 volt LED's from a single battery on my MEP802?

I vote for using a buck converter. They are dirt cheap at Amazon and save your expensive batteries.

    MEP-802 generator

When you try to start it from the master switch, do you hear the K2 relay clicking? It's a small contactor buried out of sight, but it makes a distinctive "thunk" when it engages that is heavier sounding than the normal relays behind the gauge panel. It's likely that the K2 is not operating...

    MEP-802A Fuel System issue.

I had the same problem and it was exactly as kloppk described. One IP was rotated too far CW and the pin/lever jumped out of the rack and jammed it. ETA: I found my old post with a gif showing the problem...

    MEP-803A Low EGT on 1

The IPs should be fully CCW. Rotating them CW can lead to no-start or no-shut-down conditions. No, the fan does not effect the IR gun, but it does lower the surface temp of the manifold you are measuring.

    MEP-803A Low EGT on 1

Pull the top, the muffler, and the air cleaner. Run the engine and crack open the high pressure lines, one at a time, and look for fuel being pumped on every cylinder. I'm guessing you have an IP that is not pumping. Are all of your IPs turned fully CCW until the feed hose contacts the...

MEP 831A 4x 3 Phase AC DC Rectifier Sample Circuit for the Genset connoisseur

Midnite Solar sells a MPPT charge controller, that works with wind or hydro generation, with 200 Vdc input and is programmable to work with 12-72V battery banks of various chemistry. The 831A's 24V battery could be rewired to be charged from the controller amd be used as a buffer supply for an...

MEP 831A 4x 3 Phase AC DC Rectifier Sample Circuit for the Genset connoisseur

Those are all good thoughts. I had considered feeding the DC bus of a VFD, but it seemed kinda hacky. The grid-tied inverter is an appealing option, but I need to dig into these more. Do they make models that don't need a grid reference to operate? Idealing, finding one that could run...

    MEP-802A GP Win

Instead of letting the gen float unconstrained, consider using rubber isolators like these sandwiched on either side of that mounting hole. https://www.mcmaster.com/product/9305K131

    MEP-802A GP Win

2x on all the things said above. Mine sitting directly on the dirt tends to dampen the vibration. If the concrete pad is not substantial enough, it could have the opposite effect and act like an impedence matching transformer, transfering more of the vibration energy to the ground.

    The river has gone dry

Would not doubt it. I'm hanging onto my TQGs for Red Dawn II

    The river has gone dry

I know the yard guys (govplanet) have been talking about this computer upgrade the DoD has gone through recently, backlogging the flow of surplus. Our local yard is empty, but they keep saying the floodgates are going to open and they anticipate getting 10 truckload/day of equipment. This was...

    Stuck Injector? Mep 803a

Looks and sounds like it is missing, then puff of smoke and its running fine. Could be a couple of things. Bleed down of one of the high pressure lines when off could cause one cylinder to not fire until the air purges. However several minutes is a long time to purge the air. Other...

How do you move your generator(s)?

I was curious how he set it up. The 425 only has 10 more lbs of stated 3pt capacity, but I know people push the 318s much harder than the official numbers. Deere states max real axle load on mine is 1200 lbs, but the Peerless axles itself os rated for 1800 lbs.

How do you move your generator(s)?

I would like to see that 425 in action. I built forks for my 318's 3pt, but lift capacity is only 640 lbs.

I need to up my game. Been looking for a compact tractor, but maybe I need to aim higher.
