Well, the rebuild kits for the poppet valve is no longer available unfortunately. Rockwell us no longer making them & Memphis hasn't found another supplier. So back to square one on this particular problem. But the night is nice, the beer is cold & the internet connection is good. Maybe I'll...
Where by chance are the rebuild kits on the Memphis website? I can't find any & the nice lady on the phone truly had no idea what I was talking about. Very nice & pleasant though. I did see that eastern has the sprag cylinder. But I'd rather get everything in one place.
& the sprag doesn't work. Or the poppet valve is stuck. There is a almost continuous release of air from the reverse side, with nothing from the forward side. I dont have an air blower to try the lines to the sprag itself, to see if it's shifting. But I'll come up with something. Did figure out...
G789 is the only military looking number I can find. Stamped on the data tag & done in paint pen a couple times. I check that number but got a bunch of different results. It's still really solid but there is some cancer to fix. It'll be a fun project. I hope. For the grand I paid for it I can at...
It came out of Ft. Leonard Wood about ten years ago on a GL auction the seller said. Still has U.S. Army & a serial number on the said. I have no idea if they had an official designation or were a just there thing. I do remember them from basic back in 01.
We must be addicted by this point. Literally just got the XM818 ruunning & legal yesterday just to bring this home today. It never flipping ends & I'm out of yard space. About a 300 miles round trip. No real issues except loosening the winch pto shaft two miles into things, & a pleasant chat...
I don't think the solenoid is stuck but it may be. I pulled it off the deuce since I'm lacking a spare right now & it was working fine yesterday.
Cool setup. I want dual train horns. I wanna be able to empty the air tanks in 10 seconds or less.
Oh trust me I'm loving it too. Now if I can get this screwy horn to work right. It'll blast your ears off, but sometimes it ain't stopping when I'm letting off the button. odd
We are now up and running well. Starts better than the Duraturd I roll for work. Gonna swipe the horn parts out of the deuce, to get an inspection tomorrow. My wife did some rattle can camo, & the kidlets wanted their picture taken. The tires are tall or they're short for 11.
Thank you. Thank you. Spent the last few hours getting the steering bled. I thought a deuce on 395's sucked without power steering, but that ain't squat compared to an 818 on 14.00's with a dry pump. But it seems to be good now
It's alive (Insert evil laugh here)!!!! Only got one tank plumbed in right now, and something is still wrong with the electric shut down, but it runs & drives (went a few miles without stranding me). Still got a lot of little things to do, but I'm much happier now.
Well, were to start. The pictured pump turned out to be the wrong pump, was for a ntc400. So no joy there, but the fleabay sell was awesome. I now have a nice new pt pump for a nhc250. So maybe this weekend I'll get it done. :)
I do have a couple of non-engine related questions. I read (my...
Busy week since the XM818 is still DOA. Got the oil changed. Filters changed, both oil and fuel. Installed a cb that is currently a cranky piece of crap, but the 8' whip looks cool. Got the 395 spare in the spare rack. Other odds & ins done. Then took a 600 mile drive in said deuce. 14 hours...
That ain't no joke. I'll mail ya some extra bows for some warmer weather. Metal, wood, or plastic? Take your pick. Just send some sunshine back.
Good job on the recovery & congrats.
