    Transmission on hill climbs…. Normal?

Is this a new problem? Or has the truck always done this? torque converter lock is 3 and higher. I think your C4 clutch is for range 3 and 7, C1 is for range 2,3,4,5. If you are concerned about clutch slipping, check the clutch pressures, and do a stalls test for the C1 and C4. If your clutch...

    LMTV '04 M1078A1 starting issues

The way you described the air inlet heater, it sounds like normal operation. On my truck the grid heater cycles on ignition on, once the grid heater finishes the cycle I run the starter, after start, the engine ECM will cycle the grid heater, when that happens my voltage will drop down to...

Seems like transmission is slipping when cold

Can you put into mode and check that range and select 1st gear. My guess are low pressure to your clutches caused by fluid restrictions. Allison recommends preheat for 15w-40 at 5deg F. You could also have a brake that are releasing slowly because of ice.

    Rear and Side Mounted Cameras

I have the same system, it works well for me, still need to calibrate the Birds Eye view. I spliced all the trigger wires to the lights so it moves to the camera position. It really helps to reduce the blind spots. I was trying to find a display that has a power over HDMI that is better quality.

    ATC Retrofit

I have been thinking for several years to pursue the idea of installing ATC for my 1078A1, looking at the wiring diagrams and configuration it may be possible. Anyone that has experience in driving trucks with ATC please let me know if it is worth it. This is a good video overview, skip to the...

    Alarm systems

Just take the transmission ECU, it takes about 15 min to remove it on a WTEC III system. Viper remote start systems have an interlock system that if the system is set to lock it won’t allow a start until it is unlocked via the key fob. If a start is attempted without unlocking it will run an...

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

I used that manual to reset my ABS ECU, for some reason my ECU was looking for an ATC valve and would disable ABS due to a ATC fault, I could only reset it by temporally wiring in an ABS switch.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

It seems like driving with the 2:1 reductions hubs is like flying with your flaps down, it provides some lift benefits but it produces a lot of drag. Once it is cleaned up the airplane becomes faster but more slippery and is harder to slow down. The pac brake is less effective because the...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

My hubs leak as-well, mostly from the caps, I parked on a side hill then took off the caps and put RTV to seal them better. It would be nice to know what the WTEC III CIN default shifts are set to and what limits are the adaption are. I Just fixed my PAC brake, it was not to hard, I had to...

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

Yeah, it can pretty much communicate with every ECU on the A1 3126 varriant. With a prolink 9000 and applicable cartridge You will need a: prolink 9000 J38500-1 MPC J-38500-1500C For ABS ecu: Rockwell wabco abs/atc cartridge Can read codes and see outputs and do test For engine ECU: v1.11...

Looking for M1078A1 ABS troubleshooting guide

I never used a lab top but I use a prolink with a wabco cartridge.

    Lmtv 1078 bed dimensions

I did that, I had to do a lot of measuring and moving the floor in and out. Even after it was done it still did not match up well. I ended up using all thread and plywood to hold the camper down, eventually I want to put in a steel plate mount with a spring in the middle to allow some movement.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I noticed before I changed to eco hubs, my truck would get up to temp pretty fast less than 5 min of driving at highway. Now my truck has a harder time getting up to 200 deg. I wonder if the heat production is from the transmission having to spool at such a high rpm. It would be nice to see a...

    M1078 cracked block

I have noticed that I do not see very many FMTV/6x6 reporting the same issues of, torque converter bolts, c6 thrust bearing, cracked blocks, driveshaft seperatation, and other catastrophic failure that are present on the lmtv/4x4. It may be causation/correlation theory but a possibility that...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I recently installed my ECO hubs. Install, he process was pretty straight forward, removed bevel gears, retorqued spindle nut, installed split collars, installed adapter plates, then installed the hubs. The part I spent a while was trimming the snap ring for the rear axle, I used a file and a...

    M1078 Trans filters

I think WIX makes a filter kit for the Allison 3000 series. I want to say the filters are the same for a 2” sump. https://www.wixfilters.com/Lookup/PartDetails.aspx?Part=212315 Also you can just go to an Allison dealer and buy the filter kit, make sure you have your SN handy. I think the...

two small metal teeth on transfer case drain plug

It is not in the SN range, I would pull your screen for the transfer case to see if there is more material.

two small metal teeth on transfer case drain plug

what is the SN of the transmission. I think it was an aluminum cage on the C6 thrust bearing. It was changed to a steel then finally to a composite based on the service letter.

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

How does the hub nut lock without the gears? The torque is less then 20ft lbs Also the torque from the axle is transmitted through the hub splines. Looks like your design the torque is applied directly to the wheel hub gear carrier attach bolts. I would imagine the design may be strong enough...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

bummer… still below the factory cruise control speed threshold.
