Penski is just as bad as U-Haul with their insurance. Tried to ream me for a new box after a trip to get parts. luckily I took pictures when I picked the truck up of the existing damage
This is what the Missouri Hwy Patrol told us a few weeks ago. If the cargo area / bed is enclosed there is no legal need for safety restraints ( if the cargo cover is on ). If the cargo area / bed is not enclosed you must have safety restraints. Also, if there are more than 14 occupants...
I'm gonna give it some time before I go and fiddle with things. See what she does first. Gotta get a blasted headlight now. Fix one thing and something else gives out, go figure. Thanks for your help though. Without you and Floridianson I'd still be throwing things and cussing a lot.
Up and running. Went for a twenty mile or so spin around town. Didn't notice any new issues. Still idles a bit higher than I am used to, but not to the point that worries me. Also need to turn up the fuel some, kinda sluggish uphill.
A funny thing though, I took the time to install a NOS...
I did install the pump. Followed the TM directions. She doesn't shudder at all when I give it throttle. Real smooth and even both up and down. I didn't take the HH out of this pump before putting the IP in.
It's alive!!! Well sorta. She running again anyways. She wont start on her own unless I have the pedal to the floor or a shot of starter fluid is used. Then the idle is way up there. Around 1500rpm, with a lot of grey exhaust. Back to the TM's. Good times.
This is the IP we put in.
Thank you folk. Y'all truly are a treasure trove of information. Got the little bugger out. Now just waiting for that beautiful brown truck to show up Monday, & maybe some decent weather. This really is an addiction isn't it? Havent got this one running again yet, & I've managed to find a 5 ton...
So the wife decided it was best to get a whole new injection pump. Thank you eturd. So I've been reading the TM' s on fuel injection pump replacement as they call it. I'm good up till timing the thing. It says line the timing marks on the balancer up with the pointer on the block. So is that on...
Oh goodie. Off to the parts sights and diesel shop I go. Oh well cheaper than a IP. Thank you for the help. At least I know how to change out the head now :)
So now I'm a bit frustrated. It warmed up enough after work to pull the hydraulic head again today. The clip is still on the plunger, so now I am back to scratching my head saying what the heck. Could it be the head is simply toast, or maybe the injector pump itself is toast. I'm open to...
The clip is 12 bucks or so plus shipping at ambac.
Floridianson, I have been running some oil in my fuel. A gallon out of every full tank. Also some power service anti-gel in every full tank when it's been cold out. Which has been a lot this year. **** winter! This motor has 19,000 and change...
Well, we got the head pulled. Stupid little clip had come off. Put the clip back on & got everything put back together. Got her to fire up. Made it about 100 yards down the road, & she died again. I'm going to assume the clip fell off again. What's the likely hood that it's the plunger that's...
Spoke to gimpyrobb on the phone, & followed his advice. Pulled all the injector lines to see if anything is flowing. And it's a no go. The head is not a pumping. Gonna eat something and then pull the head. Hoping it's fixable, but prepared for the worst. I'll read up on the plunger in the meantime.
