What I ended up doing:
I took the NAPA part number above and ordered the armored 51" line so it would look similar to the others on the truck (only shiny). :)
I found that the line can almost be hand bent to shape with the armor on it. 51" is just a tiny bit longer than stock I think but...
^^^ Those look pretty good if the NOS ones don't pan out.
The threading on the fittings was another issue I wasn't sure how to verify on an off the shelf tube.
Known good is - GOOD!
Okay - forget this flare business. I could probably get it done eventually with some practice but by that time I'd have cut the brake line so many times it would be too short to reach!
I don't want to use an off the shelf piece of tubing because I doubt I'll find one that fits the...
I think the flaring kit must be some chinese junk from O'Reiley or the line takes a funny sized flare tool.
The 5/16" insert fit the inside diameter of the tube BUT when I tried to use the 5/16" hole on the "holder", it would not grab the line - it was loose.
SO, I just grabbed the line with...
Got a double flare tool and gave it **** but had no luck. Waste of money. If anything requires any sort of finesse, I'll **** it up in short order.
Leaks at the fitting now.
I guess I'm going to be looking for a brake line. I need the one for the passenger side front-rear axle.
I am finally getting around to fixing a leaky wheel cyllinder on the rear axle.
Of course I cannot fix anything without breaking something else in the process.
While removing the brake line from the cylinder, I tweaked the line and it sheared at the fitting.
I would like to cut the line...
^^^ Man you were holding out on me! I only saw the Jesus picture on your phone with the 8x8 timber (which I was kinda not going to mention) but ummmm there it is anyway.
I'M OUT!
Thanks Mister Sunday!
Seriously I was down on the deuce but Keith knew just what to do. After shearing numerous pins made of 16 penny nails, a 60 penny nail is all it took.
From nearly 300 feet away, with 8x8 timber wheel chocks and another Superduty Ford as an anchor...
Update:
The ruts are filled with water from the saturated ground.
Truck is basically sitting on the axles and drivetrain. Back wheels spin freely with no resistance.
Front axles will not lock. I can flip the switch and I hear something faintly click under the truck but else happens...
^^^ Probably a hundred feet or less of cable. The road is 300 feet backwards.... Another road is 700 feet (or more forward). There aint nuthin to hook to.
I'm in a field near my work. I was hoping someone here had something heavy (the six wheeled kind) they wouldn't mind parking somewhat in range of the cable. ;)
Here are some cool pics for you all to point and giggle at. :)
I'm sure someone nearby wants to play. This thing is stuck good and the more I mess with it, the worse it gets. I put some wood blocks under the wheels and now its virtually immobilized.
Here is the situation. Attaching a pic.
Open field and there is a small service road behind the truck that runs perpendicular to the direction the truck is facing.
Anyhoo - mostly its just a bad time to find out the front axles won't lock in.
