When I received the A2, the previous owner left some parts including a ziplock with new glow plugs as spares. I just checked now that I read this and you might be right: these measure a perfect 10mm which is about .02 larger than 3/8" and their resistance is 1.5 ohms vs 2 ohms. So they may work...
Hi there,
I’ve experienced the same symptoms with my M1123 for the past couple days. Before investigating tomorrow, I was researching on the forum and found this useful thread (as always!)
I suspect that mine will be straight forward (the truck has been running great since I reworked it 18...
Congrats on your truck, it will look great once the couple issues are fixed.
There ALWAYS are surprises receiving a HMMWV from auction and that's probably part of the experience to fix it and this way make it yours :)
Parts are easy to get. They get pricer nowadays but it's still cheaper than...
Hi folks,
I haven't managed to find instructions nor photos of what it should look like. I bought a box full of nets that includes 3 sponson nets and since I'm preparing the slantback for a road trip I'll use the opportunity to load wrapped tools on the sponsons.
Anyone has a clean picture?
I...
I have a Montana DoJ title in hand and I don't see anything like this on the title. Style: UT is the closest I see for both trucks I have titled.
Where is this located? I'm worried that if it's on certain titles only then it could mean Off Highway indeed. But I though it would be Off Road if it...
The MT title took about a month so maybe I was lucky! I went through the path of having the vehicle ID verified by a certified DoJ office and sent everything to the DoJ... a month later the MT title and plates were delivered to my office in MT. Maybe it does help to have an actual address within...
Yes this has been trotting in my mind... I wonder as well. I haven't calculated the surface that lets airflow through in that cap but the gut feeling is that it starts restricting at mid range. Turbocharged engines have a better ability to pump thanks to the compressor sucking as much air as it...
Hi folks,
I'm been traveling quite a bit for the past couple months therefore I haven't driven nor worked on my trucks much and I've been silent on this forum... I'm about to take off again for another mission and wanted to share the funny experience I just got today.
Day off, spent time with my...
Nice trip 👍
You did the right thing not using AC and dropping doors, IMHO.
I've spent a bit of time in Africa where tourists and people temporary deployed there and using their ACs would paradoxically be the ones to dehydrate and get sick. We simply didn't have AC so we had to adapt and cop with...
Lifting by using longer springs and dampers is what I have in mind. I've raced quite a bit in Baja and off-road endurance. It takes a while to setup a suspension right and I'm by no mean an expert but I've given enough feedback and been involved in setup a few times to get a good idea of the...
One buddy who is a marine (who was the one who advised me to get a M1123 and I keep thanking him for that!) told me to not trust the ODO with super low miles. He told me they ride these bucks quite a bit, sometimes a bit roughly and sometimes they happen to have disconnected or swapped meters...
Looking a bit more into the suspension, I find the absorbers to be surprisingly short, limiting wheel travel. Lifting would be interesting to increase travel, I don't see the value of using a spacer really.
M1123 is an A2 indeed.
My bad when I referred to my A2 I meant my M1043 A2. It's a heavy slantback which is great but I hate the suspension on it. It's nice on freeway though :-)
Please don't trash them!
It might depend on what you want. I like the smoother ride, still even too stiff for off-road. Not hauling rocks nor sand though...
Hi folks,
Tonight I was checking the suspension on the M1123 (on which I have not really worked yet so it's still a discovery) and I saw 5 tags hanging here and there such as this "KD 07" for instance:
Anyone knows what they mean?
thanks!
My M1123 came with the pre-MAK springs re-installed. While the truck is much lighter than the A2 (the A2 is a slantback, heavy doors, AC, hard roof, etc.) the suspension on the 1123 is way nicer than on the A2 which feels like go-kart suspension.
The rear coils are easy to identify as the...
