Look @silverstate55 .. the data plate has only so much space to write the nomenclature on after Simp is done with them. We are on M915A4R2E2-1.1 rofl
In all seriousness we've been considering trying it at some point in the future. A late 90's FLD120 rear chassis would fit it nicely.
Overkill is under rated and you've got all your bases covered. If they continue to give you trouble let me know and I can call Waco (upper CoC) and get them up to speed on the FMV regulations.
The weight slip is a relatively new thing for vehicles without weights on their titles and happen to...
I remember when this hit the news. Deuce brake failures are the result from lack of PMCS and inspections before hitting the road. As these trucks continue to age they will become more frequent. Most failures are due to lack of brake fluid more so than lack of air. This could be a leaky wheel...
FML - LMTV
FMM - MTV
"Fun" tid-bit of info on these serials. They're produced under "military/emergency services" serial range which causes CAT dealerships some trouble. HOLT CAT here in Texas has multiple licenses and their departments don't intertwine. When my first A1 had a failed ECM, their...
A long over due update. She has been sitting at a friend's body shop for nearly a year waiting for some love. I sourced a tailgate and other parts to make her whole again. The body work is a WIP and she will go CARC 383 green and later camo if I get the time. The body work almost passes for...
I agree with your source, it's totally possible, but have yet to see a yellow top "in the wild" compared to 27 black tops in person outside the motor pool(s). I'd like to know rhyme or reason on the belt MWOs as I've only seen 5 3126B prior to 2003 with a serpentine belt and I owned two. 2013...
Having had all mixed variants from 1992-2008 I can confirm the following:
All A1/A1R trucks 2005+ have C7 engines with serpentine belts. They typically have black valve covers too with the word ACERT on it.
2005 A1 (not A1R) trucks with the C7 engine are reset units through an S&S "buy back"...
I did the thing! I had a M1078 w/w and the engine was dead. No bang-boom even with ample starting fluid so I dropped in a MTV 290hp engine and put it on 16.00s. It really moves. The boost will put you in your seat. :driver:
Impossible to know info due to the reason GeneralDisorder said above. Plenty of trucks are out of DoD service but still in state and local service so they will skew the numbers too.
I can provide some insight as to the quality and thoroughness of the GP/IP inspection process. Most inspectors are average people with no military history and gain experience with repeat inspections. Given the nature of surplus it's feast or famine so effective training is hard to retain unless...
DoctorCheney223 Excellent synopsis and a heartfelt congrats on seeing this project through. I had the opportunity to restore an M47 some years ago but in the end it was too much. I managed to get the gun grandfathered and registered with the BATFE before transferring her to a new home. I'd love...
Is it an A0 or A1 truck? If an A0 truck with the 3116 the oil pressure sending unit is on the driver side of the cab below the fuel filter. They can fail. I replaced one today that would peg out past 80 psi on start.

You can put your shipping toward a better truck. ;)
