Mike, I just read your reasons about why you opted not to use the turbo. I have to say I could not agree with you more. I have a very similar set up in my 1028A1. I have a rebuilt GM 6.5 from a 94 K2500. I too removed the turbo and am running the same intake. I have a 4911 pump also that I...
IP wear along with timing chain stretch can be a factor. Along with weak springs in the injectors. If the pop pressure is lower, the spray pattern will be less than ideal. Even though it may run good with no smoke, it could be time for at least some injector cleaner.
When searching for parts use K30 instead. This is the civi counterpart to these trucks. So for example is you were using Rockauto you would use your year, then K30 and a 6.2 diesel. You can then get anything you need that is not military specific with out spending all day searching the manuals...
If the sticker is still there you can tell by looking at the drivers side valve cover. If it is a 6.2 it will say detriot diesel. If it is a 6.5 it will say General Engine Products. If the white sticker is missing you can look at the front of the engine block right where the passenger side...
Or you could scrap the whole thing and go with a regular fan clutch. I got a extra WP pulley from flea bay and bored a 1/4 inch deep pocket in my lathe. I then used a fan clutch for a CUCV and a 20 inch 6 blade fan. Along with the 180 Mildon thermostat. It now runs at 180 and I no longer have...
I ended up getting the aftermarket aluminum tank. It fit perfect with no leaks. I would highly recommend it. The one you have looks like a pirated copy part. It doesen't look legit at all.
If you need to replace your switch on the crossover You might consider using. Index Sensors & Controls Control Switch #8037024. Along with Milodon High-Flow Thermostat Part number 16406. The 6.2 was originally designed for 180deg. The 8037024 switch turns the fan on at 195 deg and off at 183...
OK If you unplugged the switch and the fan did not engaging then you found your problem. It will overheat easily. The clutch should be engaged by default for a fail safe. There isn't enough air flow through the rad while driving to cool it properly. As with most MV's the mileage really...
First unplug the switch on the crossover. This will make the fan run all the time. Then test drive and see if it still overheats. Since it is a 6.2 you need to eliminate the concern of cracks in the block at the rear cylinders. The combustion gases will cause the coolant to overheat if you have...
Most of these trucks went through a referb at some point. Rebuilds depended on what was wrong. You can expect to find many replaced parts. Also the odometer is most likely not the true mileage. I would bet 586 would mean May of 1986. The rebuild tag on one of the diff cover bolts was most...
Is the pump you installed a rebuilt pump? To answer your question, No the return line is just that. It is open to the on the other end in the fuel tank. You may still have some air in the supply line from the tank. Try bleeding again. You mey need to run it at a higher PRM until it smooths out.
All 6.2's will work. The long block is the same. You would need to reuse any military parts that don't match the ones on the new engine. Even if you found a "C" series engine you can use your intake manifold to convert it to a "J".
If I was in your shoes I would cut the oil filter open. Look for metal debris. If you don't see any dip your finger in the oil from the filter and hold it up into the sunlight. Look for metal reflecting like glitter. If it's not much change the oil and filter and see if it runs. Since oil is...
Thank You. You are correct. I went through the same madness. If you look at the stickies at the top of this forum you will see a LEO checklist thread. If you would when you find a part number please post it in there also. I tried to get a sticky with just part numbers but was un successful.
I sprayed it in the whole seam lip where the Velcro meets then pressed the Velcro together. Then along the whole seam from one side, over the top and down the other side. I also had to spray near the windshield. It leaked there also. It stopped the leaks about 90%. But I think the material is...
I too use mine for firewood gathering. Its a 2Door Cargo also. I do use it on the backroads. I avoid the highway as much as possible. It will out work any UTV out there at a much cheaper cost. It's been a great tool so far for my needs.
