Agreed. I don't think there is any boost pressure going on here. The opening for the 93 housing is much larger than the CUCV one. The sticker on the housing reads the engine was rated for 175 HP that year. I assume the larger intake hole helps that. So I wonder how much flow is changed if the...
The hose is from LMC truck. It is the same one for a stock CIVI 350 gasser. I used the GM factory plastic connection at the rad core support for it to attach to. I just removed the knock out and instelled it there. I believe GM stopped the 6.2 in 1993. So a stock air cleaner housing from a 88...
You can get some metric all thread from Fastenal and using a hack saw cut the length you need. Or just for a quick test, run it with the filter off just for a short test run. I used the newer housing and the ram air because the drone noise got on my nerves after a few hours . It's is way...
You can do a test to see if it would make enough difference for you. take the lid off, turn it upside down and tighen it down. You will notice the drone noise will get MUCH louder. I noticed a seat of the pants difference in acceleration. Yes the engines are starving for air. This was done to...
Turning off the lift pump is not a good idea. This causes cavitation in the IP. The IP can pull fuel but it shouldn't. It will seem to be running fine but with the noise the 6.2 makes you can't hear it. This will destroy the IP. Also not all 12V pumps are created the same. Do you know how many...
I stuck with the 3 speed for one reason. Cost. I couldn't justify that amount of money just to go faster. When I get on the highway I stay about 50MPH. Yes I can go a little faster but why? If I need to go faster I will drive my 2500HD. It sounds like you would be just fine with a 3 speed. If...
Rich, if you used the thicker head gaskets do you think it would give you enough room for the valves to clear? FEL-PRO 9521PT are .010 thicker than stock.
If you give the lip seal number to the bearing supply you are using they can give you the right sleeve. You will also have the measure the seal fit width to get the correct one. Unless you have a lathe.
Try opening up the intake and exhaust first. The hole in the air filter housing is pretty small for a 380CI V8. These engines are starving for air, then they are forced to push the exhaust through small pipes 20 feet long. I made a ram air intake with parts from a 1993 6.2. I went with 2 1/2...
Electrical gauges read restance or OHM's from the sending unit. If you install two on one sender I would think the restance would be off. The gauges would most likely work, just not read accurate. You could install a water crossover from a Humvee. It has two ports. You could also then be able to...
The 700R4 was factory installed behind 6.2's by GM in their trucks. That weigh about as much as a HUMVEE. I agree the 6.2/6.5 can't provide enough power to hurt one. Keep it cool and it will work. Yes the 4L80E is a much stronger better built tranny. But for the cost it just may not be worth...
Understood. I haven't used them for some time. I found it easier and cheeper for me to put the bearing number into the part number search on rock auto. Normally they have the Timkin,SKF, ETC brands.
