    Hyd fan clutch replacement

Yea no problem. I'll start a new thread with a better title so anyone searching in the future can find it easy

    Hyd fan clutch replacement

I will have to disagree. When the 6.2 came out they had Robert Shaw 370-180 thermostats from the factory. Both of my 1982 GMC's with 6.2' came this way. Old school mechanicaly injected diesels normally run 180 thermostats. They started increasing the temps in the late 1980's trying to meet...

    Hyd fan clutch replacement

I drove it into town last night 11 miles each way. It was 90 deg outside. The temp gage slowly climbed to 180 like normal and stayed there. When I got out to the highway I ran about 52 MPH. I could hear the fan but it was not loud like the stock set up. While stopped at the first redlight in...

    Hyd fan clutch replacement

Thanks NDT, I remember that thread. That's where I got the info for the 195 switch. Action: I replaced the thermostat to a 180 and temp switch to keep the engine below 200 deg. I spent too much money on the GEP engine to loose it to a cracked block because it got too hot. I know there are...

    Hyd fan clutch replacement

I was not having a over heat problem. I installed a 180 thermostat at a switch that kicks on at 195 and off at 180 when I installed the GEP engine. It runs great. Yes the fan does spin when disengaged but it is pretty much in free wheel. They needed the truck to be able to ford water so I can...

    Hyd fan clutch replacement

I started getting tired of the leaks and replacing high dollar parts to keep the fan clutch working. So while looking at some civi H1 stuff on the web I saw a 93 model with v belts and a thermo clutch. I searched for the pulley and parts and found they were discontinued. I decided to come up...

    Valve Cover Sealant

When I swapped heads to NA on my GEP back in the spring I used both. Mainly as stated before. When using only silicone you can easily bent the covers if you need to take them off later. I used silicone very lightly and mainly in the spots where the casting had imprefections. Hoping to fill them...

    WMO in CUCV

Back about 15 years ago when Diesel was above $5 a gallon I tried it. It was costing me almost $150 a week to go to work. I bought a blood centrifuge at a auction for $50. It had space for 4 1 quart bottles so I could spin a gallon at a time. I would lose about 25% if WMO to waste. The bottom...

    m1097 p/s issue!!!

If in fact you have all the air out of the steering box the adjustment on top of the steering box may set wrong. But I would suspect there is air still in the steering box. These systems have a lot of places for air to get trapped. Did you lift the tires off of the ground and turn the steering...

    Positive Rear Camber

Cool Let me know what you decide.

    Positive Rear Camber

I'm thinking of adding the heavier rear springs to mine. I carry fire wood out of the woods and would like more payload. I have the lighter M998 2 man with the 7K springs. Since your in TX maybe we could swap.

    Doghead dilemma

I know you said the grounds were good before and they should be ok. But with little 12V try adding some temp ones anyway. Engine to body and body to frame. There is a cheesy ground at the headlight harness that mounts to the body by the rad. It may be burnt under the insulation. I have burnt...

Is this 6.5 worth my time and money?

It's good another one was saved from the scrap yard

    Duramax engine swap

The rad struggles to cool a 6.5. A duramax would overwhelm it easy. Although H-line is about the same size, you can bet it has more fins per inch. Also being Alium it will transfer heat far better.

Adding two-stroke oil for lubricity - this study says NO.

Hummmmmm adding water to my fuel??? Na no thanks. As often as I have to drain the water separator I'm thinking the gas station does that for me already.

Is this 6.5 worth my time and money?

With it having the single plane intake manifold , you can tell from the CRD valve plumbing it is likely going to be the 175HP engine. If it is low hours and no abuse it can be a good replacement. With GM engines being rare over there. It might be a good idea to get it before you need it.

Differences between 6.2 and 6.5 mechanical IP lines

My DB2 4911 pump uses the same 14mm X 14mm lines like the DS4 electronic pumps used on the 6.5. The 6.2 engines used 12mm at the pump and 14mm at the injectors. If you are using a 4911 pump from a 6.5 you will need the 14MM lines. Or swap to the 12MM nipples.

    I'm Confused M1028,A2,A3????

Yea the VIN won't tell you anything. If you can post some pics from the auction we can help you pretty easy

Differences between 6.2 and 6.5 mechanical IP lines

I was thinking about the civi engines on the lines. For example my 6.5 in my 1028 has a 4911 pump. It has the bigger nipples. As far as the course injectors, They were only used in the 82 and 83 model year 6.2's These engines also were the red painted blocks. Starting in 84 GM started...

Differences between 6.2 and 6.5 mechanical IP lines

There are two different injectors. A long body, and a short, as long as you use the same body length you can use your lines. Now there are differences in pop pressures used for different applications. But they will bolt up. As far as the lines, Yes there are differences for turboed and NA...
