Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

Installation is cake, as far as the mechanical part. Took me about 2-3 hours total. Longer part was wiring. I was able to run the wiring up the backside of the pass. side cab, since the M1010 had a hole there for wires. I used a plug and sealed it, with a smaller hole and rubber grommet for...

Was looking for a shop in or near Milwaukee to work on M1008; then did it all myself!

Yep, just was going to say that. I actually want to change to a 90* fitting on mine as with a hose on, it rubs the underside of the floor.

That will do it. Hope it did not fry the alt, as alts do not like being disconnected from the battery while running. It spikes the electronics inside and kills them. Fingers crossed just a simple terminal replacement.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yes good deal. Seen them go for $100-$300

Yep, got mine years ago and it works very well. About the only issue is for some fitting (on other vehicles) I have had issues where it wouldn't fit the space.

I think I did 30-35 ft lbs with some locktite. Nice job on seal and balancer install.

I always put just a little bit of oil on the end of the balancer part that touches the seal, during installation, just so it won't possibly tear the seal. Only one I didn't do that on was my 12v Cummins, since it had a special tool and specifically said not to, as it had some coating on it...

Where is the trans sensor located? In the pan, in the trans check port, trans line? Location will make a huge difference. If in the check port or output trans line, it will always show hotter than if in the pan (which is a more average temp reading). Any location on the output side of the...

Yep, I reused both the washer and bolt. Added a little locktite to the bolt before installing.

I used a piece of PVC and the balancer installer with a flat plate over it. Pressed right in. Not much room for a hammer down there.

Nice work. I used the same diff covers front and rear and Lube Locker gaskets. Only issue was on the front cover. I recall one hold being slightly off and needed a little file work to open the hole up. Before you put your gaskets on, double check all the bolts will thread in.

Too bad you were not in the San Diego area, I would have welded that for free. Looking like you are getting things together.

Thanks for all the pics. Looks very nice. Two things I am curious about. First, it seems there is not really a glove box, in the sense it is very shallow and not likely very useful. Second, if the stock heater core box is tight, I would guess an aftermarket A/C system is not likely going to...

Great job on all the stuff you are doing. Going to be a CUCV mechanic in no time.

Cool, thanks. Hey, looking at the last pic with the wiring down the A pillar, is the a DIY4x4 dash kit? If so, more pics and how do you like it and what issues did you run into, installing it?

    M1010 A/C shroud fasteners

I don't have the size and lengths as I haven't pulled my off yet but they are captive nuts since I have pulled my interior panels and insulation. They are welded to a metal plate, that is then attached to the box. My guess is 5/16" based on what I saw poking threw.

How well did that head liner work out? Been thinking about one of those as well.

    Transmission gap

Yeah, gotta love GM. Hit and miss sometimes on things. I do think all true 4x4 trans cases have the thicker cover flange and the 3 threaded bolt bosses on each side. This is to help keep the case from cracking (when using the correct cast cover) from the extra leverage of the transfer case.
