Check the ground connections from the harness to the radiator support above the headlights. Also check the main ground connection for the instrument cluster. It is the six legged connector above the parking brake.

Your alternator has been converted to a single wire self exciting unit. Many hotrodders use them. I have never worked one one. I would take it to a shop so I didn't burn something up.
