Polartherm NGH Portable Space Heater question.

Anyone have the TMs for this thing?

Polartherm NGH Portable Space Heater question.

I'm picking one up today from Butner. Guess I'll start climbing the learning curve soon! :D

ADDING 25KW SINGLE PHASE TRANSFORMER TO MEP-005A

It’s best to keep it near 208v since the 120v side will also increase if you push the voltage up.

ADDING 25KW SINGLE PHASE TRANSFORMER TO MEP-005A

OK. Modification isn't the best way to go then. Just use 2 of the 3 phases when you are running single/split phase loads and understand your output will be limited to around 10kw.

ADDING 25KW SINGLE PHASE TRANSFORMER TO MEP-005A

Is the RO single phase or 3 phase? How much power does it require?

ADDING 25KW SINGLE PHASE TRANSFORMER TO MEP-005A

Since its a MEP005, no way would I try to use an external transformer when you can do a straight forward modification to get single/split phase out of it directly.

    803A Troubleshooting

Yea, the droop adjustment might need touching up. If it hasn't run much in a while, I'd give it some exercising before doing much adjusting. Could be just some tight linkages. Edit - When it drops does it ever come back or do you adjust it back right away?

    MEP 803a Setup for 50Hz, 230V 3-Phase – European Users, Help Needed!

I've not done this so I can't comment on how well it will work. Since the machine wasn't released with this in mind, you'll need to do some modifications. I recommend avoiding trying to get the voltage too high. The generator is wound for 208v, not 230v. Driving the voltage up over spec can...

    MEP 803A Wet Stacking

Yea, if it’s not running in all cylinders, you need to resolve that first. If you are taking everything apart to unstick valves, you can put the muffler in a smoldering fire and cook out the junk. Will give a good head start on things when you put it back together.

    MEP 803A Wet Stacking

Yep, load it as much as it can hold without chugging down and wait. If it’s spitting out chunks then it’s clearing itself. Bump up the load as it can take more. It should recover. The worst one I ever got was an 802 that couldn’t even hold 2kw. After a few hours of “therapy” it would take 6.5kw.

    MEP-803a power fluctuation

LED lights are really sensitive to that stuff. The ones in my bathroom flash like a photograph is being snapped when I turn off the vent fan.

    MEP 803A Wet Stacking

I had one come through here a couple of months ago that had around 300 hours on it. It smoked and wouldn't take a full load. It peaked out around 8kw. I loaded it up as much as it could hold and let it run. As the exhaust heated up it started spitting out chunks of carbon and the smoke reduced...

MPE803A AC Circuit Interrupter Nuisance Trips

The load meters are estimates only. Get a good clamp on meter and know for sure what your load is. If you find that it is indeed tripping early, get the TM and check the burden resistors. The resistors could be bad or you could have a bad connection somewhere in that circuit.

Mounting an MEP 802A on a Dodge Ram 2500

I'd seriously look at an inverter and some LiPO batteries. You can charge the batteries from the engine or a modest sized generator, or even at home in the downtime. Overall I expect the cost might be a little more than a MEP802 BUT in the long run, it will be a much more livable solution...

    803A dropping from 60hz to 56hz under 25% load.

The important thing is that droop is a necessary part of governor function. Less is NOT better. It leads to surging if you try to get it too low.

    803A dropping from 60hz to 56hz under 25% load.

Its typical to see about 1.5hz drop from zero load to full load.
  17. DieselAddict

    803A dropping from 60hz to 56hz under 25% load.

Is this a new problem? Has it ever held RPM correctly with load? How many hours on the set? How long have you had it? Any smoke from the exhaust at an indicated 25% load?

    Load shedding?

Raspberry Pi, home assistant, zigbee modem, zigbee relays to control devices. Zigbee sensors to give feedback for interlocks.

    Input requested - MEP-802A/803A Radiators

yes vote on neck redesign. otherwise, a drop in replacement would be my preference.

    MEP802a LPW2 Governor Issues

What I can contribute here is there is a "feel" you develop after you do it a few times. Its hard to explain but once you "get it", you'll know immediately if the pump is going in right.
