You're doing it right.
FWIW- I'll be changing all of my trucks to DOT 3 whenever major work is needed.
All you need to do is flush the DOT 5 out with 3.
Does anyone know of a specification list for the various models of military generators?
MEP-02,13, etc mean nothing to me.
I want to know things like:
KW output at single and/or three phase?
Fuel required?
Fuel use per hour?
1800 Rpm or 3600 rpm?
Weight of complete unit?
THANKS,
Eric
Sponaugle,
I don't know much about the tires, other than agreeing that the originals suck on ice. I have a full set of chains, which are generally too much trouble to install.
The heater? I'd go with the hot water heater mounted under the dash. That way it recirculates the heated cab air. That's...
Sorry R,
I was referring to the heater fan.
At 190 you ought to get plenty of heat.
Are the valves that supply hot water to the heater & return it to the engine open? You screw the stem out to open. There may be two, or just one.
Does coolant come out of the heater bleed valve? It should. Be...
Is the engine getting up to temperature? My 813 is very slow warming up. By blocking the radiator it's a little quicker.
Is the fan running?
When I have time, I plan to relocate the heater under the dash as in my Deuces. Works MUCH better that way.
But if the engine isn't warming up, you still...
Well, after a lot of effort to get together with this guy, I finally looked at the truck this morning.
From 10 feet away I said "Is this the right truck?"
Seriously rusted. Even the dash has rusted badly in spots. I didn't even open the hood.
But thanks again for all the tips! I'm still looking.
Rapture,
At the start of your post you say the heater is complete, installed, & working. So I guess you must mean it's SUPPOSED to be complete & working, but it's not?
Anyway, the heater in the back of my "arctic" deuce has the fuel pump built into it. Yours may be the same.
I doubt there would...
Thanks a lot for all the good advice, guys!
If I get an M37, it'll be just like my other trucks. Has to look basically original, run pretty good, & have safe tires & brakes.
I drive 'em rain, snow, or sunshine.
I'll probably be looking at an M37 for sale this weekend, & I'd appreciate some tips on what to watch for.
I was told that it is complete except for a cab top, light rust with no rust-through, engine won't run. Also has snow plow mechanism attached. That's all I know right now.
I'm an...
Thanks for keeping Christmas safe for us here at home!
I spent Christmas in VietNam over 40 years ago, but I remember how it felt. You'll be alright.
When you get back, hook up here & take advantage of all the experience this site offers.
