How many "OLD" guy's are just getting in to a LMTV ?

Randy, "Ain't no hill for a climber.." Being a mid 60's "old guy" I got my LMTV last year and have had no problems at all climbing in or out. I am sometimes stiff in the right knee from holding down the throttle for a three hour road trip. I think you should get one and ride, ride, ride.

    LMTV Upgrades

I got the compound at an O'Reilly parts store. I bought the giant bottle since I was doing some car and truck cleanup. It was about $40. Doing two vehicles I still have more than 1/2 bottle left. If I were just doing lenses I would buy the small bottle of part number 03900 for about $8.00 on...

    LMTV Upgrades

I experimented on the old lens and found that 3M Rubbing Compound made them look almost new. In the photos you can see where I did half of a red and amber lens. I now have spares!

    City owned LMTV

My 1994 M1079 had this ownership history: Fort Bragg NC Latta SC Police Department Steel Soldier in SC then myself. This truck has been wonderful! I think the Latta City PD got to hand pick it from Ft. Bragg. The first private owner towed it back from Latta and the only thing in maintenance he...

    LMTV Upgrades

It had been bugging me that the front sling guide plates on the van did not extend as they were supposed to. Today I decided to work on them. After lots of Liquid Wrench, pipe wrenching and hammering I got the two hold down pins removed and the plates extended. Here is a diagram of where the...

New Horn! The original horn was "wimpy" and after lots of teasing I got a WOLO Big Bad Max Air Horn (12v). Now the LMTV sounds like a truck (I got my first complaint from neighbors today after the sound tests!) Short video...

New LED headlights! LEDs were too pricey for me so I did an H4 substitution (see post # 25) but anotherSteel Soldier (thanks Coffey1) found me a package deal I could not refuse. They are extremely bright.
