Well the first batch came in today (for my truck). They are sealed new in the poly kraft wrapper. I opened one, they are soft and pliable. I will let you know when the big lot gets here.
Thats why you inspect it before driving. The tires however can be internally damaged, I guess the best way is to replace them all with new. I wonder how many have CTIS leaks or just O-ring leaks from the two piece wheels.
I drove mine 300 miles home, between 50-55mph. Everyone says 48mph but my gps and follow vehicle said 55mph. You also will hear that you shouldnt turn one past 2500rpm. these engines are rated for 2800rpm just as they are in the school buses around here, and they are available with over twice...
Properly prepared substate with a quality primer/sealer will allieviate any fuel problems. I have used many types of fillers including lab metal, most are still polyester based.
i was looking at an auction vehicle that is tagged as repaired to SOW requirements and has a completely covered floor? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Is there a military floor covering/insulation kit for the a3?
(I think anyone that buys first and asks later, what something is "worth", well, ain't so smart.... )
And they drive up auction prices for thr rest of us.
Yea, $4k bid was as high as I was willing to go. Some of those have been more than 8 weeks ago and still havent resurfaced, although another truck I was outbid on in Marietta showed back up in three weeks and another in 4 weeks.
By the way there is no problem with using a little body filler on properly prepared metal, once you have gotten the tank crown re established. Preperation is the key.
The (radius edge) is the curved edge that runs length wise of the tank (and truck). you can cut a piece of light steel plate/sheet to fit the curvature of that lengthwise dent and weld it to the tank. A pair or two of vicegrips clamped to the plate will give you something to connect a come along...
You might consider welding a thin metal plate to the tanks radius edge, then pull the plate with a come along while working out the tension with a body hammer. You can do that with your mig, I use similar with Mo-clamp plate weld puller. Nothing will replace the knowledge gained from experience...
( the a2 can be turned up and big tires make it run past an a3)
Just remember the 3116 in a a3 can be put past 350HP with oem cat parts, The 4 speed can be swapped to a 5 or 6 speed (auto or manual, your choice). So if you push the a2 as far as it can go, then compare it to a pushed as far...
