I have crawled up many grades in 3rd gear with my 5 tonners.
I was grossing nearly 80,000 pounds monday with my M819 & M270.
not a fast ride untill it got wound up on the flats.
then whenever it thought it spotted a uphill grade the speed was dropping.
using the t case works a little...
the method your using with the picker works a little better if you hang a chain fall from the hook.
it gives a little more movement fore and aft without having to drag the picker against the wheels.
also cuts out the need for the helper as the chain to raise and lower can be dropped down...
ok. heres a couple of pics to hold ya over.
limited time right now but will post more later.
we had an awesome time and pictures dont really do the event justice.
well i did not intend to mislead anyone.
sorry i did not wreck my pickup and trailer.
maybe if i run out of things to do we can hook it up and run it down the road and try to wreck the bugger.
just kidding.
probly could have used a different thread title.
anyone thats interested in primitive off site camping shoot me a PM for details and directions.
we have a location.
its wooded and near the main site.
participation with the group will not be a hassle as its only 2 miles or so from the main camp.
you are rite about the weight.
with the dolly under it its 10,000 pounds with no toung weight.
no big deal as i was just using it because im lazy and the F250 was the closest.
i would have no worries towing it down the road if the brakes were compatible between the 2 units.
ah --- they could. if your talking about the logs.
and use them i do.
i thought maybe you guys would get tired of seeing my old trucks over and over

Naaa .
even i am not that crazy! there are a lot of things i will do that make folks shake their heads. but dragging something like this down the road at high speed is to risky for me.
i needed to move it and the F250 happened to be the closest pintle hitch.
sorry about the heart...
this is what NOT to do.
Works fine for towing around the place here but even i would not try it on the
road.
pulling it would be no problem. stopping it ............................?
I need to use 4 wheel drive to get it thru the sand.
0 pounds tounge weight.
