the input shaft bearing retainer on the rear is different to recieve the coupler between the case and the hyd motor. atleast thats the difference on the one i got off from a 900 something bridge truck. the rest of it looks the same.
I have one here that vented the block with #6 rod.
and i have laid eyes on 10 or so more that tossed the same rod.:?:
2 of these also had a bad turbo and dumped most of the engine oil out the stack.
I remove the turbo.
its not that hard and i dont want to risk damage.
there are lots of diffrent methods but mine is try to play it safe.

5 tonners flat tow well for the most part but i would lift tow the beast.
like pappa bear stated-- flat towed vehicles can tend to do as they please.
even more so when the towed vehicle out weighs the towing unit.
since you have a choice i would rather lift tow.

you also may want to watch for shutter stat products.
the small air cyl that opens and closes the shutters on the older civi trucks may fit your application.

the DT466 is a good medium duty engine.
dont know about the auto trannys.
one nice thing about changing the body is,
you wont run out of room for the air to air.
it's a huge job as far as time goes.

If the thimble does come loose with the outer,
I go ahead and pull the rest of the nuts and remove the wheel.
then get a pork chop and seperate the joined nuts.
the pork chop holds the outer nut while you run the thimble through it.
