I received this M35A2 w/w from Jeepsinker yesterday after he went through the truck. 2008 rebuilt engine, G177 tires, air-assist steering, peashooter brake lines, and more. All it needs is A/C and it may be a decent commuter vehicle. :p I plan to get it painted and spiffed up.
I talked to Jeff before he made the purchase and the truck is supposed to have the 3.07 gears installed for his trip unless something changed. I say with that C7 and those gears he will be fine scooting down the highway 60-65 mph with room to spare. I gave him heads up on small tricks, tips, and...
IED route clearance was the goal for this Buffalo MRAP. From sources that messed with MRAPS they rolled off the production line due to high demand of the trucks overseas and they couldn't spare any for training so they did the next best thing. I actually found some photos of her sister vehicle...
A quick update since I've had too many irons in the fire. My tire guy came and installed some good 14.00 XZL. The truck was moved and blew the heater coolant hose which was routed along the passenger inside frame to the rear A/C system. It all will be replaced anyway and they just plumbed it...
I disconnected the top plug on the reverse polarity box and it stopped acting up for the time being. Unfortunately I'm dealing with another major issue on this one but the first issue hasn't returned. The M1088A1R had an intermittent no charge light issue but only after it warmed up and the...
Pulled the injectors on this C7 which wasn't nearly as bad as CAT tech videos suggested. I'm taking the injectors to get tested while they're out and yes they're numbered too. I did a ton of research on penetrating fluids and for this unseizing job liquid wrench was the pack leader. Acetone/ATF...
When I took my 3126 ECM in to CAT a year ago we walked through the settings. There's a field for the gear ratio that will change the speedometer. I'm setting up a CAT ET laptop to play with these things instead of paying for a tech's time. I bet there's more we can play with in there.
After the power pack is pulled, axles removed, and the rear 5' of frame & pintle are removed for a fellow SS'er it will basically be nothing and a crushed cab. :grd:
I'm about done stripping this M1078A1 down for parts. She suffered heavy damage to the cab while in service and was slowly picked for parts while in DRMO. At the end of the day I'll have a nice low mile C7 engine, full harnesses, etc as spares. I may make this my test engine for running higher...
Just picked up a set for $2500. You have check FB or network in the hobby. They're out there.
Update on performance: I took the truck out today with the M989A1 and a load of scrap. I grossed 39,080 lbs all in all. She handled well for the load and was rolling along around 45 mph...
