That is good info. First, MEPs don't last 30k/hrs. Like any machine they do break and they do wear out. The engine in a MEP802 has long life potential, but not knowing how it will be treated or the initial condition of the set, I'd guess that 10khrs is what you should expect to get. Could you...
Quick question, What is the motivation for changing to a diesel generator?
What is your current experience with the EU3000? Is it not getting the job done?
If it stops making power when START is released the place to start is the voltage regulator circuit.
To the second question, you can’t run 15kw on two phases and not damage the generator. You need to derate it by at least 1/3. It will be 208 volts. The voltage shouldn’t be an issue for most...
Took the rig out for a tow today. Not problem. Everything went as expected.
When I got back I lined up one of the single trailers with the powerplant setup.
Here are the photos for comparison.
As a more serious answer to the OP, Don't need to overthink it. These things are already pretty well protected. Even a modest cover over it will be enough.
The biggest thing is to rodent proof it if you are in an area where that is a problem.
You will want to load it as part of your exercise routine. Doing a cold start and then not loading it will lead to a bunch of junk building up in the exhaust called wet stacking.
You are better off in my opinion testing it less frequently but with a decent load on it. I run my primary unit...
Have you downloaded and reviewed the TMs? If not look at the top of the webpage. Click on TM and find the post for the 802. There are several technical manuals available. Lots of good troubleshooting in there.
Looking at the manuals will get you in the grove of what the parts are and will make...
I'm with you there. Its a little tall for the F350 but perfect behind the M1081. I'm about 80% convinced to keep it and make it my main generator trailer. I had planned to do that with one of the smaller trailers I have. Assuming I keep this one I'll sell the other ones I have with the shorter...
I think the problem is the recirc isn't happening as it should. When I was starting mine up yesterday for the first time it took me a few minutes to figure out what it was doing.
I'm sure you know what it supposed to happen but sometimes talking through it can help you see something you might...
That is for sure. If I keep the trailer I plan to put one 802 and one 803 on it so I can choose how much power I need. I can keep everything wired up and use the SYNC box to select which generator to send power from.
I finally got it unloaded from the flatbed. It was more than a little sketchy. The excavator is some of the best $$ I've ever spent.
I have to say it looks really nice behind the M1081. :D
Man, heartbreaking that its gone so sideways. I just picked up at H140 that needs some love. Crossing my fingers that it works once I have the visible issues corrected.
Did you end up selling the remote? I may build one for mine if I can't find one for a reasonable cost.
Yea, that falls in line with what I'm thinking. I may toss it up for sale but wasn't expecting a lot of interest.
The smaller trailers that go with the single generator setups are a pretty easy to sell. This is the first powerplant setup I've won at auction.
I brought home a MEP802 powerplant setup today. The generators will be heading off to new homes soon. I'm curious if there is much of a market for the trailer?
Does the air over hydraulic brakes make it more challenging to sell?
