Here is a picture of the finished product using an small drum Series 18. Winch and fairlead are for 8" wide drum. The mounting plate and fairlead plate are attached to one another thru the bumper. We also changed the design of the atttachment plates so they are stronger and make adding a...
FYI, the oil cooler holds 3 quarts of coolant. There is a drain valve for it to. See TM 9-2320-272-23-2 FIELD MAINTENANCETHERMOSTATS AND HOUSING REPLACEMENT (M939A2) I had one thermostat fail open on my truck and it took forever to heat up.
I only put in Fleet Charge 50/50 until full which is good for -30 here. No water! You may need -40 protection there so you may have to put in a couple gallons of non diluted antifreeze. Only use low silicate antifreeze in a diesel!
CAUTIONWhen filling cooling system on M939A2 series vehicles, ensure drain valve on aftercooler isopen. Failure to do so may result in damage to equipment.NOTEThe cooling system for the vehicles covered in this manual has a 47 qt (44.5 L) capacity.1. Fill cooling system with required amount of...

I collect coolant in a 20 gallon barrel now after trying several 5 gallon buckets on my 923A2. So you either have a venting issue or you didn't have near enough coolant in the system.
Just an FYI, 2" RAY-BAR Glass @ 22lbs per sq ft. UL 752 LEVEL 8 BULLET RESISTANCE, NO SPALL RESISTS 7.62 X 51 / 308 WIN, NO SPALL ON ASSET SIDE ALSO MEETS NIJ 0108.01 LEVEL 3
These are dual voltage 200 amp @ 28V and 100 amps at 14V. Dual winches that pull up to 285 amps each and radio gear. I have a 450 amp @ 28V but it is physically too large.
I think we have all found the improbable cause with a surplus generator! Wrong parts, boards, and wiring issues. I just blame it on the fact that troubleshooting requires common sense and there is not a lot of that around now!
All the Warn Severe Duty Warn winches I sold had rust inhibitor lube on the cables and should be maintained since they were designed to operate in submerged conditions. I use a penetrating lubricant to saturate the core. Then, follow up with a coating lubricant to seal and protect the outer...
One of my Army Sgt buddies has to pickup 3 HMMWV's at Ft. Jackson tomorrow from the DOD and he can only carry 2 at a time on his trailer. These are being transfered to law enforcement in Bainbridge Ga. and they have to be off base tomorrow. If anyone has a place to hold one over night I would...
It still requires a bumper extension! I have had no luck getting a winch in without them :). The reason for the new plate is that the narrow drum winches do not pull from the bottom like the full drums did and have to be mounted feet forward. I had to make a heavier plate and attachments to...
I designed a plated for mounting to the 939 series bumper that is exactly like that. It is offset but I can change anything on the mount since I have the drawing and the laser :) I cut out of hardened 3/4" plate and use 12 bolts to fasten it to the frame and 6 bolts to fasten the out plate...
GL is pretty dang sorry anymore! No customer service and they cannot even put a label on a shipment. Would you ever receive anything from Amazon that way? I have had numerous $75 labeling charges. I now find someone to pickup and label and then I get it picked up. GP will work with you more...
From what I heard, a M984 wreckers recovery winch was used to try and pull it out from the front. When it ripped the bumper off, they got a Unimog to dig it out from the rear and then used the M984 to drag it out from the rear. I have never seen a bumper rip like this. Needless to say a...
Check out what happened to this 5 ton! Peeled that bumper right off the frame pulling it by the shackles! Seems the passenger shackle pins did not sacrifice like the drivers side.
I have installed the RG31 bumper in the pics (upper) and Caiman bumpers (lower). I do make a 1/2" thick AR500 wrapping protection plate with fairlead cover that encloses the winch on the Caimans. I sell them to various swat departments that have the setup in the pic below. Several fell...
The biggest issue has always been the mounting plate / orientation based on the winch. If you pull from the bottom you can mount it flat. If it pulls from the top of the drum you have to mount it vertical. When going vertical the min stell thickness I use is 3/4 and also to protect the winch...
