Hi Guyfang, I missed the post that the outlets were DOA. My Bad! Sometimes I don't refresh the page before responding. I am not sure what you have seen for failure rates but I looked at 58 803's thru the shop in the last 3 years and I have only had one K1 that needed to be replaced and 12...
I use the 12 volt 2 battery charger units from NOCO or Pulse Tech. I found along time ago that one weak battery can cause a very good second battery to be over charged and like the saying goes put an idiot and a genius in the same room and 2 idiots will eventually walk out. Batteries are the...
If he is really seeing 240 on the meter and everything is running along ok, and the only thing wrong is he cannot energize K1 to close the contacts there may be a corrosion issue on the contacts, a loose contact, a severed wire ( Rodent bedding), or a bad switch or K1. Other electrical loving...
Oh boy! Check K1. You will need to take the top off as it is located behind the panel where the resistors are located. Square black box. check continuity back to the interrupter switch. While you are back there check the wiring that rub on the angled aluminum sides for damage.
That stupid flap and silicon seal! It kills me to see these units in the yard at GL with the flaps stuck open. I never buy one missing a flap. Buying a generator from a gov auction is like a what Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get"
I have seen 803a units going from 5k to 7k during hurricane season. I have several low hour 803a's for 4500 each. They have been updated and load tested. Most of my units are Marine HQ units. I even rivnut the cases as I dissemble and correct any issues with the unit. I can send pics or even a...
I could not find the nsn number for that part in the manual I have. If you can find in your history on the flea what it was listed as, I would appreciate it. I might make some out of some alloy stock I have when I can get one of those plastic marvels again! What a pain to remove the pump!! I...
Both of my H-83's died due to a broken piece of plastic! The pump coupling to the motor finally gave way on both units. I too bought junk from GL with less than 2 hours on each one 2 years ago. Then I found out the meters were disconnected per procedure. Nice! Does anyone know where to find...
Remember, you always get what you pay for! There is really not a big profit to be made in small kva units unless you don't mind gouging people during the hurricane season or sell a system that you didn't repair and properly test! If I wanted a surprise I would buy a box of Cracker Jacks!
I also use Optima yellow tops and AutoCraft AGM Platinum batteries depending on the sale price. I watch for deals on the AutoCrafts at Advanced Auto Parts. I have put over 2 dozen in service and they have been very good batteries.
Any time I get a frozen engine, I tear it down and rebuild it. That way there will be no surprises when you crank her up! I can rest easy knowing I have a reliable unit. An 803 for standby will last for decades for home use as long as you keep the rain and bugs out of it and maintain the...
Mice and many insects love electrical equipment. That is why I put in fine screen in my generator intakes and I put a filter in the bottom of the skid to keep them out of the drain holes. I hate to open a door and have wasps attack! Rodents, what are they really good for?
