My original "ugly" center cap!
My solution!
Make a die set to stamp a new center cap out of 24 gauge 304 stainless steel, powder coat it flat black and have it laser engraved.
Here are the results Old cap, freshly stamped cap, WWII Army logo, and Air Force logo.
Installed Cap with my logo.

Milky oil is an indication of water in the oil. My latch and cab catch were not parallel with each other preventing the pin from easily engaging.
So I installed some shims between the latch and the mounting surface in order to get the latch parallel to the cab catch. I also used longer bolts...
Check your starter bolts regularly. I was working on mine today and noticed a small gap between the starter and the housing mounting surface. The starter was very loose and missing two of the 3 bolts holding it onto the housing. I cant believe it was still starting ok.
I also discovered the...
Can anyone identify this box to the right of the engine ECU that has two threaded plug connectors with nothing attached to them.
This is a 2003 M1078A1 with the 3126B engine.
Each plug has two pins in it. The box had been by passed before I picked it up from the air force base. With a short...
Thats how i did it when I discovered my latch not latching after it was in the down position. I notice some one in the military had it apart. so i took mine apart and discovered the spring that latches it after the hydraulic pressure is relived was missing. To get it working again I found a...
Whoever is seriously interested, send me a personal message with all your contact information and I'll start putting a list together.
Be sure to include what year and what engine yours is.
If 5-10 seriously interested people contact me I could start putting a price on it.
Also I would need someone interested close enough to me to bring there FMTV over for a week so I could design build a bracket for the 3116 generator mount.
I don't have any info on the 3700sp, but I do have experience with the MD3070. I own a 2003 M1078A1 with the MD3070 transmission and my original transmission died and in the process of getting a used replacement I found that the MD3070 does have variations mostly with the internal wire harness...
The Plan: Take a readily available Humvee AC kit, Red Dot PN# RD-2-5497-0, NSN:4120-01-581-9451, Contract CAGE: 31UG4
Note: I found my kit at the auction site we all love.
and the FMTV Interior AC unit (Evaporator-Heater Assembly) 1st generation Red Dot PN# R-5750-1
Combine them to make...
Thanks for the preview. Looks like we are all trying to get them installed before the summer heat, as I just started the process. I have plenty of questions. I have a gen 1 AC evap unit and plan to use a humvee / universal kit for the rest of the components.
What are you guys doing for the rest...
When performing my transmission swap I turned the engine over both ways from the generator fully nut and by pulling or pushing on the fan. There is an access hole to the fly wheel passenger side, with the cab up facing the engine to the left of the turbo. To gain clear access to the threaded...
I've been installing those "sensors" for over ten years in the electric gate business I owned. The the part you see in the ground that is commonly rectangular in shape but can be in many shapes is actually just insulated copper wire that makes a loop around that shape multiple times depending on...
