When they rebuilt them they put the MWO in that has a has a block that prevents you from using low range in reverse. They are tricky to adjust, and can cause this problem.
It is actually the pump itself, that is a sign the head is worn. I have replaced the solenoids on ones doing it and it doesn't fix it.
Dilvoy is correct, time for a new pump, it is a sure sign yours is on the way out.

Actually, when the government tested they found that ATF did not increase lubricity much enough to matter. It has friction modifiers in it that are designed ot make clutches slip less inside the transmission, and as a result that negates some of the natural lubricity of the base oil

I have a bunch of import canteen cup copies. A big surplus dealer lost his a** on these trying to buy from China, and then I got them dirt cheap after he couldn't do anything with them. Problem is they won't fit a US canteen!
But, that said, they are great for the shop for storing small nuts...
