From what I have been told, with to much grease, 1st it can get forced out of seals, this can then render a seal bad. And 2nd that it over works the bearing, it interferes with heat transfer, causing overheating
It's always my practice to throw a little grease on the spindle in case of a water intrusion, far less likely to rust if you don't catch it, I also glob grease in between the races, just enough for the grease to be above the races by a little bit, too much grease can be as bad as too little
I have personally had TWO of these spill proof/vent free gas cans(both were plastic containers) pop open emptying all the contents on the ground-needless to say I have found a way around this, but will neglect to say for legal reasons. It is beyond me as to why they created these spouts/cans...
IMO a power bleeder is nice, but will likely not solve the issue at hand. I let my whole system gravity bleed, before using the two man system(and once with a vacuum bleeder). still have nice firm pedal.
My whole system was rebuilt, all new lines, rebuilt all the wheel cylinder, and rebuilt...
well, apparently the picture of the burlap over the springs is the whole reason it wouldn't load, but pics of it installed, and of the foam inserted and assembled. need to find time to make a new back for the drivers seat, have the machine and canvas, just need to pull of the cover and...
Gonna try to load some more pics, not sure what happened
The like new distributor, a hand brake cable for my M715, a wiper motor, one of the windshield fold out arms, and a spark plug cable timing adapter
All right, it still won't let me load the work in progress and finished pictures of the...
Haven't done too much with the ol' girl, but picked up a distributor at the Milford NH swap meet, like new condition. My dad was discussing that my stumble may be a worn distributor or even a worn advance spring, something that is more noticeable for the first few miles. His jeep had a broken...
somehwere, and maybe someone else here knows, but there was a chart that gave estimates of speed, throttle, and shift points to make sure the TV cable is adjusted right....well it was more of a guidance chart, but would probably be helpful none the less
1, Dodge 5 speed notorious for 5th gear nut backing off( loss of fifth, occasionally will lose ability to shift all gears, especially if you were shifting in/out of fifth when nut fell off.
2. 4l80 is not bad, just requires a computer and speed sensors, which is sometimes a hassle
3. 700 not...
At the point of sounding odd. I think it is stock based on spring arch up front (still has some negative arch) 2" would have a slight positive arch.
Now it may be possible he did a 5 spring-but that would make the spring flat; HD 4 leafs have a 1 inch negative watch, or he did something stupid...
Contact the seller, if he did indeed get it from the fire department, then as a government truck you should be able to get some form of a title. The only problem may come if the fire department sold it as parts only.
Or you can do the antique title, mine was rather simple, get it filled out at...
My trick for mounting up flywheel sensors(or any other magnetic pickup) is to tape a piece of credit card to the teeth, then rotate it till you can see the card through the mount. You can then mount the sensor tight to the card and that gives almost the perfect distance, you could also use...
Normally black smoke and high EGTs when turned too far, otherwise no clear indication unless you put the pump on a machine and test the outputs
This is of course assuming the rest of the engine is in ok shape
talking gauge locations in dash? gauge brands? or gauge sensor placement?
I'll try to cover all three.
I am using a VDO boost 0-15 PSI, I like the look of the stock gauges, VDO and AutoMeter are good brands, but I like VDO a bit more, and it is slightly cheaper
For EGT I got an Auber EGT...
Thanks, I was staring at it and I pretty much came up with same idea, my axle is out, but figured it work. I am routing the drivers pretty close to the bellhousing, and I am pretty much mimicking what you did over by the oil filter. Except I am using part of the egr valve(minus valve) and...
just looked through whole thread, but haven't seen any good pics of how people have been routing the crossover. trying to visualize before cutting my exhaust too much. using a 6.2 drivers manifold, because I have the SM465 with hydraulic clutch(slave cylinder is right where the drivers 6.5...
I have the same C-clamp tool. Works amazing, using the right adapters One can pretty much rebuild the front end in less then half a day, or less depending on how much rust one has to fight pulling it apart
I don't know your luck with duralast products, and while I can use most of the products from the Zone, the one I stay away from is the balljoints-I have yet to have one last for more then 3 months-course I stopped getting them after the third free replacement.
I do like the work you have been...
