I am a manual guy too, I think the 800 is a better looking truck. I have to say though, the Allison they put in the 939 series is very tough. One thing I do not like about it is how violently it downshifts when slowing.
You will find that about every five ton has a different feel to the...
Yellow metal friendly. Large debates have been over this topic, basically the fear is corrosion of the brass parts from the wrong lube. I run GL-1 in mine, picked it up at Napa. Glen

If that is the case, we are probably looking at a parts truck. We need some small parts for another 915 and this cab has some rust issues. Thanks, Glen
We have a Cummins 400 that starts right up and makes no power. When the pedal is floored, the engine does not respond.
After warming up for 15 to 20 minutes, it will accelerate, but very, very slowly. The truck will run 55, but it takes two or three miles to get there. I drove it about 100...
Nice to see you enjoying that truck, glad we could help you a little in the recovery. Keep sharing those photos, even though I work on them daily, I still enjoy seeing photos of the trucks being used. Glen
I had a rancher today tell me that the Allisons have to be set up for a PTO, not all Allisons have the internal drive gear gear. It does not make sense to me, looks like they would all be set up to drive a PTO. At any rate, maybe somebody who knows will chime in. Glen
Are you lucky enough to have one of the M923s that have the controls and hydraulics already in place? I think they were originally 925s that had the winches pulled. Some of them have 923 data plates.
Is that 715 in your avatar from Marysville Kansas? It almost has to be the one I brought home from Iowa with that top, bumper and fender flares.
On the DUKW, that is a long way to go for a ride, but probably worth it. Glen
I am another member of the 42 to 45 mph club. I stay off the Interstate whenever possible. I do worry about being rear ended, we had a member here killed that way. Glen
There is a guy in Norfolk Nebraska that parted out lots of deuces for axles. At least 50 and probably more. Our operation is primarily five tons. We do have the 1957 Utica Bend with an excellent sounding and running LDT D turbo that is too rusty for me to tackle. We also have three LDTs in cans...
Find a trailer with good electric brakes to tow behind the Duramax and we will all breath easier with the deuce on a trailer. 8) I flat towed a five ton with my deuce, not recommended either. At least it was occupied and had air via the deuce. The towed vehicle had brakes and a brake operator.
Glad the starter worked out for you, we do not have many deuce parts, but that Multifuel in the can took care of your needs. I was pretty confident it was good after the shop checked it out. 8)
Today we have three new arrivals that all run! M925s.... We were on a roll of dead horses for a...
